Carriers
Got a suggestion...dunno if its too ,late for .3 but seeing as you guys mentioned cappable cariers, I though you should think about adding multiple points on the carrier to cap, like the rear and front etc...

I like the idea, makes carriers more interesting BUT i means squads can get more seprated easily, this often means transports leaving with a less than capable force.
1 more spwn point might be use full at the front end for manning the anti airweapons.
I JSUT REALISED: carriers can be captured! THis means we must have atleast 3 spwn points and mabey up to 5 intotal. This would result in some serious firefights to hold the carrier. You are right!
It would be nice if the whole carrier could be remodeld, adding rooms in the bridge and and meby one below deck PLUs some large rope ladders, the ones that go from the top to the bottom of the deck and are like 10 m wide. Would be great for scaling the ship or geting in to a boat. But at present , this would be a very very very low priority, so cant expect any major changes for a long time to come.

but lacking in cover. A cool but slighlty pointless vehicle to add would be one of those tow vehicles, that pull helis and planes about the deck.
NO really: a few basic obstacles such as boxes, equipment ext.. would make it far more interesting but with out being to hard to implament.
BUt i am not sure if adding those small things can be done with out having to re- model the whole carrier.
THe main fact is that we need a front spwn point - this is very simple but would make a huge difference and result in MASSIVE fun!
LOL, us soldier looking at map to see their carrier with 3 MEC flags!

I know...its basically just something to give the US a last stand...they get that far pushed back and an attempt to hold whats theirs, I don't expect there to be that much cover, because there is the requirement of take off ability before the battle would be taken to the carrier...but maybe you caould add some ladders here and there to allow people to use the air control tower as a battle area.Top _Cat the great wrote:but lacking in cover.

Xpack stuff is off limits and EA tends to be pretty anal about that.
Regarding making the carrier have 2 capture points..... yeah that's a very interesting thought. One below decks and one above decks....
Just to be clear... won't happen for 0.3, but we'll look at it for future releases.
The carrier map in BF2:SF, Iron Gator I believe, could be a lot of fun. However the flags are so close together and the flag cap times so quick, that without AAS support you are constantly going back and taking a flag you just took. In BF2 nobody wants to sit and defend a position for any length of time, so I find Iron Gator get's a bit tedious as you are always re-taking a flag you just took.
But yeah... let's see how carrier assaults go. It's only on a couple of maps:
- Gulf of Oman
- Dragon Valley
- Dalian Plant
(I think that's it for cappable carriers).
For now you'll need to get an SL onto the ship and keep them alive. If people find these fun, then we'll look at making the carrier into 2 spawn points for a future release.
