More realistic russian troops/vehicles
I really like the mod overall but i hope the russian units and vehicles choice will be improved.
i hope russian troops will get there own models instead of just reskins of the MEC troops, i also the they shouldnt have matching uniforms, seeing as multiple uniforms for troops is quite commonplace
I can't understand why you chose the BTR-60 for the apc, they are mostly phased out now. in my opinion the BTR-80 would have been a much better choice, seeing as it is still in service.
same goes for the T-90, most russian Forces in checnya and the caucasus used T-72's with era armor, so a T-72 with era would be a better choice than the T-90 in my opinion.

I also hope IFV's like the BMP1/BMP2 will be added, these are commonplace in russian forces.

regards to the player models afaik its just temporary in the long run, making all new models and kits is a very demanding taskBlackened1234 wrote:I really like the mod overall but i hope the russian units and vehicles choice will be improved.

also i dont think its entirely possible to have different camos for every class, just 2 different styles for light and heavy player models, could be wrong though it could be possible to add more
T-90 was just used for the time being too, i think someone was making a T-80U (i think thats the correct designation) which will eventually replace itBlackened1234 wrote:same goes for the T-90, most russian Forces in checnya and the caucasus used T-72's with era armor, so a T-72 with era would be a better choice than the T-90 in my opinion.
i reckon theres alot more yet to come from the ruskies, cant wait for a combined arms map with them against a conventional forceBlackened1234 wrote:I also hope IFV's like the BMP1/BMP2 will be added, these are commonplace in russian forces.

Models
We currently do not have anyone on the development team that can take on the enormous task of creating brand new player models for the Russian Forces.
BTR-60
T-90
A new Russian MBT is in the works. You're referring to the T-72B by the way (T-72 with ERA bricks).
There's also numerous other additions planned for the Russkis in PR

BTR-60
I quote that from a Russian Forces update we made months before the last release. BTR-60 is only in because it's all we had at the time. A future PR update will have the BTR-80 (possibly the BTR-80A as well).Once completed, the BTR-80 will replace the BTR-60 in a later Project Reality release.

Re: More realistic russian troops/vehicles
The Russians just have the basics atm
Afaik T-90/T-80/T-72 are all in service - why not mix em up instead of just doing one
or the other.There are no BMP1/2 models,there is a BMP3 (needs re skin ?)
which would hopefully make on the battlefield under the Russian flag (Fools Road and Koselsk would be my pick)
I have no idea what will they get for air assets,as there are a lot of soviet/
Russian models in BF2/PR (Mig-29/Su34/Su-30/Mi-8/Mi-28/Su-25)
Probably the ones in bold)
I am all for combined arms maps - the bigger the better.

Re: More realistic russian troops/vehicles
Thanks for the info and keep up the great work!
This mod really is a great improvement over vanilla BF2.
And yes the BMP-3 would fit in nicely, and the SU-25 would be a great choice for ground attack!, it saw quite a bit of action in south ossetia and georgia.

Those are BMDs, not BMPs. BMDs are for airbourne forces.charliegrs wrote:i believe theres another mod that has bmp1 and bmp2 models, i think its USI? maybe pr can borrow them and reskin for the russians?

Re: More realistic russian troops/vehicles
Most of those are at work currently, other than the camo (idk about that).
The T-90 issue can vary. Russia uses the T-72, T-80 and T-90. Perhaps we could use the T-80U and T-72 on the Chechnya or insurgent-like maps, and T-90 + T-80 on maps against actual factions.
As for the BMP, I remember that the Chechen rebels already have one. Why not reskin that?
Remember that since the Russian Forces is relatively new to PR, we are just using some placeholders.

Ah! So the BMC is for marine forces! (geddit?)[R-DEV]Nosferatu wrote:Those are BMDs, not BMPs. BMDs are for airbourne forces.
So the BTR-80 is replacing the BTR-60 for the Russians, does that mean the MEC will keep the BTR-60 as their APC (replacing the silly BTR-90) or will they too get the BTR-80? Seems a pity to have so much similar equipment between the Russians and MEC, that's all (BTR-60/80, BMP-3 etc.)

chechens have no BMPs, they got BRDMs and AT version of it(AT-5 Spandrel)As for the BMP, I remember that the Chechen rebels already have one. Why not reskin that?
what do you mean under BMC? marines are using BTR-80, BRDM, BMP-2/3(anyway BMD is also amphibious), MTLB, T-72, T-80+ artillery 2S1, 2S9, 2S23So the BMC is for marine forces!

I think he means the BMC, referring to Marine Corps...that's the only thing I can think of...

Since this has been suggested before and has been answered I am going to lock this thread.
