I know this is not that big of an issue, but I think it would be great if there could be an extra fire mode that could be set as thus like the others.
I am not sure but I do believe that there may be a hard code restraining the amount of fire modes, but either way I think that it would be nice to have a weapon and be assured that if i accidentally hit the mouse it wont go off.
The suggestion is to implement a new weapon fire mode, "safe" and I know just how to implement it as well; a modder could in fact just create a fire mode called "safe" and then have it fire a blank projectile with no sounds(due to the trigger being locked) and be sure that there is no fire animation for it(kick from the shot).
With the implementation of this fire mode I do believe that several positive things can come of it:
a. No more random fire during long distance foot travel
b. A tactical decision can be made by the SL to tell the squad "Weapons Cold" and thus have their squad members switch their weapons on safe.
c. A decrease of fire spamming during a period of waiting, or transport in a vehicle.
d. Assurance of no fire if mouse is clicked
Although I know this is, if it is implemented, a rather minor issue, but it would be in my opinion a good addition to Project Reality and its quality of gameplay.
PS: I did search this topic but results were a bit inconclusive. Please do not state "THEN JUST DON'T PRESS FIRE RANDOMLY", that is an non-constructive comment and I will not stand for stupidity.

Unfortunately, I dont think this change will affect point A, B and C, as the people that fire randomly into the air will continue to do so even with the option to put their weapons to safe.
Also, I have this vague memory that you cant have different projectiles for different fire modes.

Been suggested before probably not gonna happen since it would take a bunch of coding for a really small gain, practice trigger safety and it won't happen. You can force someone to turn there safety on so it won't stop any idiots from doing what they do.

Sometimes in the heat of battle you can miss fire you gun, imagine if your running threw a field and you trip and you gun blows you foot off. In the game you won't have this problem so its pretty much useless as long as you can keep your finger off the mouse button before you need to fire.master of the templars wrote:why would some one put there gun on safe though?

I think this is a great idea, that way if your running around you don't accidentally shoot your buddy running in front of you.

Thats why soldiers are trained not to have there finger on the trigger while running. They just place it alongside the trigger box, within reach so they can instantly switch there finger to the trigger.nick20404 wrote:Sometimes in the heat of battle you can miss fire you gun, imagine if your running threw a field and you trip and you gun blows you foot off. /agreed with the rest. Wont add anything. And I want to meet a squad-leader who is ordering is men to put his weapons on safe when they are sneaking around...
