[New Gameplay Mode Idea]
ZPU HUNT


For maps such as...

Muttrah city v2
Operation Barracuda

...we rarely get to fight from one end of the map to the other in many of the maps in PR. So the concept is simple.
Much like unsurgency, the Opfor have numberous Anti Air installations scattered throughout the map with weapons crates and a faward outpost next to them. So they can spawn grab kits and hop on the UAZ and man it, therefor making a heavily defended position.

And much like insurgency, there would only be a few at any given time so that cheeky squads couldnt go look for the obvious spots and destroy the stuff before they were defended.

So the coilition gameplay would be like this.
On Muttrah, aircraft are trying to land troops and the troops need to set up fobs. But an enemy UAZ could be near any one of the landing points. and The UAZs that im thinking of are deadly acurate, with maybe two guys with stingers that they pick up off the UAZ itself, you dont want to risk landing next to it, or the HUEY and everyone gets killed, effectivly using up around 16 tickets or somthing. Troops move in on foot and attempt to take an area, and instead of a flag, its a central point thats heavily guarded, so lots of action in the firefight.

So im thinking, have the same for a Chinese map and a MEC map and an insurgent map.
My thoughts were, Muttrah v2, Op Barracuda, maybe quai and even a big map like Qinling or Kashan?

It could be called ZPU hunt for the name of the chinese anti air gun, ZPU-2. Or called UAZ hunt after the company, Ulyanovsky Avtomobilny Zavod. Or ZUES Hunt after the nickname of the ZPU-2 (from what i gather its a nick.)

Give feedback pl0x, please give any indeas that could assist this suggestion. :)

Oh my god I can already smell the AA-Spam...
but fuckin hell, I love that idea. I sounds like loads of fun to me.

Just make sure that you place the UAZs not on places like very front on the docks on muttrah cuz a dedicated gunner would make it impossible for US to take off then.

Apart from that I dont think that Barracuda would fit to that mode since its all about AA anyways and even one UAZ on the beach would be a damn Overkill for the Hueys

Sounds good :) I thought Muttra V1 had a set up like this where you really needed the docks before you could get any more air-lifts in.

I do think this sounds more like something of a "side-quest" that spawns maybe the attack chopper once you destroyed the 2 static-aa's on the map. Dont think an entire battalion would start a fight in a city just to take out the AA's.

But it shouldn't be that many spots. Because it would be pretty hard for the bluefor to destroy 10 spots like on insurgency. Because the armies are more or less equal what firepower means. And it is also not very realistic that, these spots would "spawn", because these are heavy defendable positions, they shouldn't be hidden like caches are now.
So I would suggest to place 3-5 AA-positions radomly. And they would be there from beginning.

What about intel/tickets?
I think you could find these spots pretty easily :D no intel needed. But I really don't know how it would work with the tickets =/

But still, all in all, I like the idea :D new gamemodes --> new gameplay ---> more fun :D

If multipal AA emplacements were spotted, the battle plan would change. Infanty would have to destroy it on foot. and tbh this isnt like the 64 muttrah. in this idea, if the Opfor did their job right, you would be taking fire as you hit the ground.

I have "kinda" got something like this planned for a version of muttrah some time down in the future, but right now its all ideas.

Thou this game mode can be pulled off inside the Scenario Game Mode (once its finished).

could also work for insurgency maps :)

Caches, AA's, AT cannons, MG nests could work on alot of stuff than only chaches and AA :)

Well well Psyko, not just a pretty face. I like it

Ive always been a strong believer in intel and AAS working together too, so similar to your way of thinking, but with an AAS element to it aswell

Intel points to get whereabouts of enemy FOBs etc, although, I hear the inevitable monotone already been suggested comment coming for me lol! ;)

Seems kinda fun. Most UAZs in current maps are in the worst positions possible.

Sounds good, I like the idea of putting it in the scenario game mode or to use it as a side quest what cyberzombie said. The idea of a hole match looking for AA sounds a bit boring but maybe I'm wrong. I should use the AA guns that are a Asset know because the ZPU-2 will be used more to defend against infantry than against aircraft. And it wouldn't be so hard to find you can spot AA from the air and if you let a chopper fly over the battlefield you can just see which gun's start to fire and you got there positions

UAZ is a car, not AA cannon, they are called ZU, ZU-23 i.e. Image
I should use the AA guns that are a Asset know because the ZPU-2 will be used more to defend against infantry than against aircraft
well, irl they are used again inf and light vehicles very often

thanks, i was actually wondering if i had gotten the name right.

@ Rhino: Hasnt senario mode been talked about for like 3 versions or somthing? You could stick this idea into the next release, go on. you know you want to. :)

@ Robbi, i like to remind myself from time to time of how much of a modern day legend I actually am. And not like you whose mental imagry may resemble aphabet soup :D

its been in development since v0.3 but been redeveloped many times and never really finished, hoping it will be finished soon, been close to completion for some time now afaik.

I like the idea of getting assets for accomplishing side-tasks. Korengal was an example of this, once the US captured one of the flags, it got strykers and a LB. Maybe could modify this to more of what pysko was saying and say you destroy the ZPU's(whatever they are called) then you get your cobra support etc.
