Pick up kits have been suggested. If the engine can handle it (which I'm almost positive it can), then it would be no surprise to me if there were pick up kits.

It would be cool to hvave armouries at important bases with an m240 kit, a m40a3 kit, and a javolin type kit to pick up. On certain map sizes there could be more kits availible than on others. Could be fun to have

pick up kits wont be available until they figure out how to do it. because i know pick up kits have been brought up numerous times and i know PR would like to incorporate them.

they are problematic on dedicated servers, but can be made to work in single player. we're gonna look into it for a future release.

I'm not so thrilled about the pick up kits idea. A mad rush for the gym sacks at the start, just so everyone can grab the super weapons, then, just as with the jets some noob grabs the mortar and runs off at the enemy before being shot dead, so the skilled enemy mortar guys proceeds to wipe out your team. Same applies with the javelin, super snipers, whatever's thrown in.

Don't worry, there won't be any "Nuclear Warhead and Launcher" kit ;)

we could also make sure that these kit is incompatible with the enemy. I mean, i have never handled a Javelin launcher but i am willing to bet that someone with zero training on it will have a fair bit of difficulty operating it.

hey that's an idea, let's put M29 Davy Crockett nuclear bazooka in the game. It would be amusing to see what happens to the ppl who rushed for it, or get shot with it subsequently.

Well the lack of dev information led me to believe that, and a lot of people talk as if that's going to be happening. I can see it being advantageous if a fair distribution system is devised, but with my basic knowledge of the limited BF2 engine I don't think there are many revolutionary systems that the devs could pull out, but then again you guys have shown us some stuff I wouldn't have thought possible already. I'm sure you'll find a way to impress us, and I have every faith that whatever you'll be releasing will be fair. :)

Why don't they just edit the weapons so that they are all state of the art weapons that the military would/should use.

The military currently ARE using state of the art weapons. The process for changing the weapons takes years, and currently the US have nothing planned to replace the M16, so for the BF2 time frame they still would be using it, unless they resurrected the XM8 project, but that's unlikely. Judging by the map 'Wake Island 2007' I'd say that's about the average timeframe for all the battles, and in just over a year I don't think there would be major changes to the weapons used in the game.

Well back to the pick-up kits, it is very possible. In fact, you could code a kit to be like a vehicle; spawn here, pickup by player, player dies and kit is idle for awhile, kit respawns back at armory. They did it in DC for 1942, so I am pretty sure with bf2 this is possible.

But I think pick-up kits would be the solution to snipers and spec-ops overusage. I mean in a real battle there arent an army of snipers and spec-ops on each side, but only a handful or less if attached to a unit. I would eliminate the sniper and spec-ops option from the spawn screen, but make them availible in very limited numbers at the armory(by limited I mean like 1-3 sniper kits and between 1-4 spec-ops for each side, depending on map size). Maybe the spec-ops could get a bit weaker weapon like a silenced MP-5 or mp-7 so that it isnt strong, but relies on sneaking around and sabatoge, instead of being the one man army it is in vbf2.

But that would mean that specs opps would have very little palce in a normal squad. We ahve to ask ourselves: how would this class contribute to a squad as a whole, and not hinder them. If there is a guy with some C4 and a mp5 but i could have a guy with a SAW instead who could be chewing up infantry - why choose the other guy if it is not necessary to blow anything up!!!!11
