Possible MEC/China Chopper
This is a screenshot of a vehicle from Armored Fury. I don't know what the vehicle is called exactly, but how about this as a way of the MEC or China combating the little bird without having to use their bulky transport chopper or the attack chopper?

Nope, that's not the Dauphin 365/Panther 565 (Chinese Z-9/WZ-9 Haitun), that looks a bit different.Dark Ewok wrote:French design called the Dauphin. License built by China I think.
It looks like a Eurocopter EC 635, which was intended to replace the BO 105, but I haven't heard much about how that is going. So far I think Jordan has been the only buyer

The PLA one Trogdor shows is a Eurocopter Squirrel/Fennec, produced by China as the Z-11/WZ-11

Yeah, the "fenestron" tail-rotor is a signature of Aerospatiale / Eurocopter products.Dark Ewok wrote:I stand corrected. But they do look a bit similar![]()
SoldierofFortune, not every weapon is going to have an exact equivalent on every team. We are including the Z-9/WZ-9 for China, though.

The MEC and PLA are getting new toys, rest assured. We have been considering the Gazelle and/or BO 105 for the MEC, since both airframes are popular in the Middle East (and widely proliferated elsewhere). And since the UK also uses the Gazelle it means we can use the base model for two factions.six7 wrote:since jordan bought the Eurocopeter, maybe we could give it to the MEC? EJOD fanboys want new toys! (the tournament is starting to become unfair) Such a beautiful chopper...

why dont they make the average chopper hit 200 mph, and really small ones hit 250 mph plus. Is it becoase it would be fairly difficult to design and there really is no purpose. But if you could get the average medium sized transport heli to do 250 you could ignor these dangerous and sily orprays almost, cos you would have a far safer and high load carring heli, the orsprays max speed is only 300 any way! and with helis being able to fly further these days than they could 20 years ago, why not up the speed by 50 or so, would make for much capable aircraft mabey?!?!?!?!?!

Well, the really small ones are limited by how large of an engine they can carry, Top_Cat; that's why they aren't as fast as the larger helicopters. They can sure as Hell maneuver, though. I'm not an aeronautical engineer, so I couldn't tell you for sure, but until we develop new materials it probably would be very difficult to engineer such aircraft.Top _Cat the great wrote:why dont they make the average chopper hit 200 mph, and really small ones hit 250 mph plus. At 305 knots (about 351 mph) max speed, the Osprey still has about 100 knots over the fastest helicopters in service at the moment.

Just putting this up because it is about time that the MEC and China got some new gear and something similar to the US toys to keep everyone from switching and everything at least somewhat balanced.
