Private Ranking System

Post by Tracekill »

Im assuming this has already been suggested but I'm going to suggest it again just for good measure. Somebody should build an SQL based statistics tracking engine for the game. I could help with the server-side coding and skinning the interface. Suggested statistics would be:

Rank
Percentage to Next Rank

Global Points
Team Points
Class Points

Kills
Death
KDA
Accuracy

Ribbons
Medals
Badges
Unlocks

Weapon Stats
Map Stats
Vehicle Stats
Class Stats

All I can think of for now.

ABR: Alternative Battlefield Ranking.

http://www.battlefieldranking.net/

Allready in use on alot of the hardcore PR community servers.

Only downside is that it casues lag on some servers. Apart form that, works the same as BF2's rank system.

America was a tad late into the First World War. They redeemed themself's and came in slightly sooner in the Second. Now they seem determined to start the Third.

No, Im not talking about some third party thin Im talking about something that PR makes theirs. Original, inventive and trustworthy. It will really mark your place in the modding world and may even get EA interested. Theyre in a habit of buying up mods recently. *Nod toward Armored Assault"

I see what you're getting at, ABR isn't even going to work with PR 0.3 anyway thanks to the radical new point system. With the new point scheme, a new point tracker would be awesome too, and having PRMM unlocks would also be another killer feature. Yes, I know, we're trying to avoid elitism and lone wolfism, but the new point system basically deals with teamwork very nicely. The unlocks wouldn't be stuff like the G36E, it'd be the opportunity to access features that less experienced players shouldn't really be using. Aircraft license anyone? The pickup kit thing could combine with the alternative kit and we could have team specific unlocks for experienced players, thus limiting them. Sniper rifles would need to be earnt by all round achievements, not just racking up points as a sniper. The new points system would seem to do this as standard. Of course it'd require a fair bit of testing and tweaking to get the fairest system, but we're only in 0.3 and there are a lot of people around here who'd be more than willing to work on the scheme for PR who feel they can't do much else to help (me, for example :) ). I like the idea.

I wouldn't want EA owning this...they'd delay it and make it suck

And Malik - ABR can be tweaked so that the differences between ranks increases.

Still, wouldn't an independent ranking system totally give PR the edge against all other mods? PR would almost become a standalone game, and who knows, maybe in the future it could be! A PR ranking system should definetely be considered, imagine the possibilities!

ranking in PR is just for stats. maybe awards, but we've not decided on that and it won't be whore based awards. never unlocks or other whore inducing elements. but abr and the stats it provides are going to be part of PR for the foreseeable future.

Ranking alone is ok, but if you make rankings AND make unlocks to go with them, then you get the whores.

id preffer something cool, like unlocks based on awards. Like expert snipers getting a different gun or something extra for theirs like mabey IR scopes ? lol
veteran / expert support could get something like mabey a grenade launcher + pistol ( a supportive weapon designed to supress enemy groups / clear out isolated foxholes, but with a low rate of fire and limmited amunition supply )

it would be much more realistic to give those whove proven their skill a wider variety of differing/specialist weapons.

Or you could just play the game and not worry about "stats/ranks/awards".

I can proudly say that I have never checked my PR stats. I have too much fun just playing to even worry about it.

I dont pay much attention to the stats, but i love the way i get that little morale boost hearing the drum roll and seeing what i just got...

i remember when i went nuts as a medic, earned 75 Team points on my own in the round, and earned Valourous Unit Ribbon, on my own as a squad leader of an empty squad, playing american on Sharqi lol... that was a great round for me and my G36E

I say no unlocks make the game the same for everyone, if a sniper wants to get good let him perfect the usage of his sniper rifle rather then giving him a new one for getting a expert badge with the orginal sniper rifle. I say no unlocks maybe more kits but no unlocks.

I personally have no idea what my PR stats are like, I'm not really interested like vBF2 because I have nothing to work for. I guess I'm just getting bored of the standard guns. :(
