I've got a suggestion I thought of...can you take the flag status meter out of the squad HUD? So that someone would have to be within sight of an actual moving flag to determine its status. That more closely approximates the action of a soldier raising a flag.
That being said, not all CPs have flags, do they...

Press caps lock, it will show the usual flag meter by the tickets.

Re: Flag status
Nick, he is suggesting removing that meter and having player look at the flag pole to see who is in control.
I don't think this is that big of an issue. Not much of a difference in pulling out your map and looking at the meter versus looking at the flag pole itself except having to be in eye sight of it.
Also, I could be wrong but this might cause problems with the new AASv3 mode (random flags) by having random flag poles to be placed around the map.

It's a cool idea I suppose. I don't think capturing a point involves raising a flag there, realistically speaking.

Yes I agree with Tempest. I think thats the reason why they removed flags.

Re: Flag status
IMO The 'flag' status is just a representation of who has control of an area
ie it would not move if there were equal opposing forces in the same area.
And therefore raising and actual flag has little point.
Perhaps, just removing the status bar completely (although keeping an indicator
to show that you were in range), would make players patrol the area to ensure that
there were no enemy units within the same zone. IDK
I quite like the way it is now.

Re: Flag status
Then everyone who wanted to cap would just move to the flag so they could see it, thus making it easy for the other team to camp it.
