suggestion to fix the problems with jumping over a gutter
obviously the massive stamina loss from performing a small skip is to prevent bunnyhopping and other undesirable tactics, but as you can see from most posts concerning the subject, few people enjoy and/or understand how a professional soldier can get winded from a single hop.
thus i suggest, cumulative stamina loss. The first jump you take only incur's a tiny stamina loss, perfect for hopping up that gutter, the second jump takes 10%, the third, 40%, etc. this will prevent bunnyhopping, and in a way is somewhat realistic. perhaps a timer could be implemented as well so you 'jump count' could get reset after say 30 seconds of not jumping, so you dont get whacked with a 40% loss after jumping up a gutter three hours after the first.
As with all suggestions I dont know if this is possible to be coded, but if it is, im quite confident in the fact that its one of the best methods to solve these two issues efficiently and realisticly.

I think that's a very good idea. I wonder if it is possible though, engine-wise.

Good idea, but I think that will be hard to implement, honestly I think it comes down to the mappers.

IIRC having to jump over small curbs etc is going to be fixed eventually if not in the next patch.

I'd prefer using invisible ramps on the things, for example try the PRSP version of asad kahl, then try PRMP version of asad kahl, on PRSP you don't have to jump on the stairs, they have little ramps so you can just walk on to them.

As you might know, jumping is only partially linked to stamina. Thus bunnyhopping is still possible when all stamina is gone.
Preventing bunnyhopping would require limiting both jumping and running capability when there is no stamina left. Jump height should be drastically lowered too.

I like the idea, because even with the tiny ramps, we still need jumping to go over fences and small walls, and those shouldn't wind you either.

this isn'd COD4, there is no other way to clear most obstacles.Jump height should be drastically lowered too.

Yea a solution is needed. It's at the point where I have to jump to get over CURBS in the Falouja map, and lose a ton of stamina.
What about just removing the stamina loss. I see people bunny hop even with the stamin loss in place.

If you talking about the gudders in fallujah its a collision model error that's being looked into.problems with jumping over a gutter

in fallujah there are sidewalks (other maps have objects like this as well) that you cant seem to run up (when crossing streets, for instance). most people jump to get on the sidewalks, but you dont have to!
just violently look down and then up (all the way up and all the way down) when trying to step over the sidewalks (or other objects that you shouldnt have to jump to get over) and you can save your stamina.
hopefully the collision model can be fixed but this is at least a workaround for the time being.

Re: suggestion to fix the problems with jumping over a gutter
its not just the matter of the gutters, or that ramps can replace the need for jumping, its also that when you do eventually have to jump, it blows you the hell away, which is not conducive to realism.
