Night maps again?

Ok so this is less of a suggestion more of a question or comment.

I used to love playing Bi Ming, the whole fighting at night thing was awesome, it was eventually removed and replaced with the day version we have now, and i assume it was because the system was unrealistic and weird, it was easier to spot enemies WITHOUT the NVGs on since everyone glowed, the only real advantage of the night vision was to see obstacles.

So my question, Now that we have a different shaders and more realistic lighting, wouldn't this have solved the problem for the night maps? if so it would be nice to get some night maps. they were really fun.

Now if any of the things i've said above are incorrect please correct me, i haven't actually played PR since early 0.8 as my computer couldn't handle the graphics even on low. also if someone could tell me why the map was actually removed, as the above reason is only a guess, that would be much appreciated.

I will allways be against night maps as adding contrast is a third party option thus allowing competent playrs to have huge edge with perfect visiblity against those that actually play in the dark.

I hope dark/shady maps will never see birth in this mod.
Tad shae is a good example of a map where people burn their monitors to see better.

hmm good point on that one Vege, however it's something i would still like back. i mean if thats an issue for any player it's always in their power to simply leave and connect to another server with different map.

An open desert map at night would be sweet, its the claustrophobic dark maps that suck.

Well, maybe if they wouldn't be around high levels of radiation all of the time, they wouldn't have a "healthy" green glow. LOL

I really want to see night maps as well. I remember that someone made a night map for Kashan back in .75 and I don't agree that the big open maps are best for night maps.
The cool thing about night maps is that it really is claustrophobic.

If I could deside I would have a map where most of the fighting is infantry in the woods/jungle. I actually think it would be a great plus to the CnC game mode.

Even though everyone says that Bi Ming Night was a fail, i'm still for night maps comming into PR. You can't know how it would turn out without first giving a try. But that's for the DEV's to decide.

Absolutely agree. Desert long range tracer fighting would be absolutely SWEET.

And also the 2nd note, Its the thick jungle terrain that makes those dark maps pain for the eyes. Open field would be pretty fun. Flares and night goggles would make it mega.

How about a desert highway convoy ambush map? Where you got small trenches on both sides, one very long highway road and a shetload of .50 cals, PKMs and civilian trucks.

Mission could be to escort convoy from FOB A to FOB B, say for artillery rounds or something like that.

Love that idea .. or else do a VIP style where you for instance need to escort a General (Or another high ranked officer) to a hsopital or an extraction point where a player would be waiting for him in a vehicle (I would prefer UH-60, because ground vehicle could just pick the officer up at the beginning) and then the vehicle had to get to a >Random< location so enemys cant camp it

Havent the extraction gamemode been tried before?
I have heard that it didnt work.
But if its coming back,then i just wanna say.
Remember the Black-Obama-Car.

Night maps were hard to play every one just left when one started up... Late or Early DAWN or Dusk maps would be better :D

theres a kashan desert map that was allmost finished but i think they ran into some trouble because ive seen it and it looks just stunning

This would be really fun to see in PR, just because its night the fighting dosent end. Dont remember the name on the map where the US forces fighting MEC forces over a small city in the desert. The US forces have their main staging area just south of a gasoline station, but that map would be really intressting to see in a night perspektive.

Just as an example: US forces have taken the main city during the day and reinforced their postions, as the night starts the MEC forces move in for an night attack with the "413th" mekanised battalion to retake the city.

BiMing nigth was epic watching the AA guns shoot was quite epic when you saw the tracers go up in the sky. (remember the old AA yeah that one that is in muttrah mec mainbase.)

Totally agree with Anubis!
It could be a infantry map.+ some vehicles.
US-2 Hummvee´s with 50.cals. And 1 transport truck.
MEC-2 Transport trucks and 1 supply truck.


US allready have a nice base,they dont need to build FB,but mecs have supply truck for that.

I hate maps were players dont compete on equal terms. In nightmaps you can De Facto choose between winning in a grey washed out map where everything looks terrible or losing in a pitch dark map where everything looks as it should, depending on how you set your gamma settings.

The problem with Bi Ming night is that both teams are just walking into each other in the middle of the night, I find it pretty unlikely that both sides just picked the same night to go wondering into some random fishing town like sneaky ninjas.

Night maps must be attack-defend maps, no exceptions.

If someone likes to change his contrast settings etc. let them have it. i wouldn´t care, because i would love to see night versions of existing maps. Same goes for the difference between players who turn of shadows etc. just to see opponents quicker and those who want the graphics on highest details. If they like to downgrade good looking maps, just to have a little advantage - who cares. Meanwhile i can enjoy the best graphics and atmosphere.

I don´t know much about Mapping, but how complicated it would be, to change existing maps into nightmaps?
