Vehicle Wounded/Dead

Post by Darkcloak2 »

This is just quick suggestion I thought up and I don't think it's been suggested.

Back Story Me and some squad mates were playing on muttrah in a transport squad when we notice that a lb has been randomly abandoned in the middle of the current fire-fight zone. So we decide to insert a pilot into the situation with 2 bodyguards. Upon reaching the LB, we find that it's been flipped over and rotor is broken. The pilot managed to flip the LB back over but cannot fly as the rotor is broken. So, we set up a perimeter and asked a guy to drive a logistics repair crate over to the lb. Now this would've been an epic tale except for the fact that there were a couple of mean badies behind us which ended up shooting us and nading the chopper to death.

My Suggestion Give the vehicle a wounded state, much like the soldiers wounded state. As in, if the team that owns the vehicle secures it once again, it can be "revived" and repaired back to using standards. On the otherhand, it's not dead so it can't respawn such limiting the assets of the team. If enemies manage to secure the wounded vehicle, they can secure it and prevent the opposing team to get back the asset.

Why? Squads would actually be assigned the task of destroying or securing an asset in order for the team to get it again.

It is unreasonable to do this for petty assets like trucks but I believe that doing this for big assets like helis, apc, tanks etc. would improve gameplay.

Thoughts? Disscussion?

This is kinda ingame, but isn't seen that often, e.g. an immobilised APC etc, or in fact ur LB story is an example. Personally on Archer, Nickbond inserted my squad in to teh airfield in a huey, then got damaged by enemy fire as he was taking off, the huey came back to the ground with a thud, but was intact. We held off the enemy and got a repair truck up from main, got it repaired under heavy fire, then Nick managed to get her off the ground despite not being quite warmed up, and then we extracted. Epic times.

The suggestion made previously was that you would increase the HP of the asset, but make the disabling effect happen more, so that a vehicle would have to be recovered from a disabled state rather than just being destroyed or just shrugging off the attack.

For realism and fun, I hope ur suggestion can be realised.

+1, let it stay rebuilt till its blown, but i think only the engi could rebuild it, then after the engi rebulds it, use the repair crate to repair it fter its enterable or w/e.. .but dtill, it eoulf be nice to do that

nice story Rudd.
the problem is, it takes a pretty fair amount of inter-squad communication which sometimes lacks in games. so I'd like to see this implemented so everyone is prompted to rescue vehicles.
For the combat engi to work, i think the limit should be raised on the number of combat engis

Ye, this is what we intended to happen with adding in the repair crate for logistics trucks to simulate realistic in battle repairs instead of a guy magically able to repair anything with a adjustable spanner(/wrench) :p

This will most likly become a even more common event in the future, epically for helicopters that have had there HPs increased but have had there critical damage points lowered :)
