Drop the M24
Hello PRMM Mods. Firstly I would like to start off by saying thank you for pouring your hearts and soul into this mod and for doing such a good job on it. You really have done an excellent job and I applaud you on that.
Now, I have played PRMM ever since its release and have followed what you have done with the Sniper class (The USMC Sniper in particular) very closely as I spend about 95% of my PRMM time sniping. I was hoping that with the .3 release the M24 would be back to something a little bit closer to its pre .2 self but was sadly mistaken when I placed my crosshair on a standing target a meer 100 meters away, allowed my crosshair to rest perfectly still for 3 seconds and pulled the trigger, only to watch the bullet hit an arms length to his left, and then proceed to watch him go prone and hit me square between the eyes with an AK-101 on the first shot.
This is easy for me to say from the outside, but it would appear that not alot of testing goes into the Sniper kit before every release.
Now with the newly released SPR (which is EXCELLENTLY done I might add) there is absolutely no reason to continue to have the M24 as a part of this mod in my opinion. Not only is it unfair and unbalanced at times, (M24 vs. SVD) but it is completely unrealistic to have such an accurate weapon in reality be reduced to the level of accuracy at times where you can be outshot by an M16 or AK101.
Thanks for listening to me ramble and I hope you agree with me on this issue. And thanks again for the great mod.

I would say that the M24 needs to be replaced with the M40A3 at the moment to have an accurate USMC sniper rifle. Or more preferably bring back the M-95 sniper rifles. With the M-95 you get power over speed in a way of putting it. Where the MEC and Chinese snipers can fire there weapons on semi-automatic, the USMC sniper would have a rifle that can fire a much larger caliber round, thus bringing up an increased in lethality.

I couldn't agree more. Marine snipers actually use the M40A3. An M107 or M14DMR would be a nice addition, as wellTerranova wrote:I would say that the M24 needs to be replaced with the M40A3 at the moment to have an accurate USMC sniper rifle. The Problem with sniping in PRMM: There is no wind. It's the wind that makes sniping so damn hard. (calculate the distance to target, direction of wind, speed of the wind. rejust scope...)
Right now... its more like... point and click.

Acutally now that I think about it, dropping the M24 would be a bad idea. However, introducing a weapon for the MEC/PLA that is equivalent to the M24 sounds like a better idea in my opinion. Basically just a cookie cutter of the M24 with a different weapon skin and sound perhaps. Just SOMETHING so that the MEC/PLA arnt so out ranged. Perhaps something along the lines of the SV-98? http://world.guns.ru/sniper/sn28-e.htm

Than I know. I read some where that a very long range British sniper kill - adjusted his rifle by like 35ft up and 20ft to the right/left, not exact but you get the idea of how big adjustments can be.
PR sniping = slightly unrealistic = need to change by adding wind = probably not possible = BF2 engine sucks even more than before

Not that it matters to this post but...'[k wrote:MuffinMaster']The Problem with sniping in PRMM: There is no wind. It's the wind that makes sniping so damn hard. (calculate the distance to target, direction of wind, speed of the wind. rejust scope...)

Wind is not the hardest part in real life shooting. It's judging the distance and placing you scope accordingly. Usually wind is a problem when it is at high velocity or the target is more then 400+ meters away. Take it from me i've been hunting all my life.

Yeah, it was officially recorded in 2002. Shot was made by a Canadian Sniper in Afghanistan. He must have hunted a lot of Moose and elk in his past years.Malik wrote:The longest sniper kill was made from 2500m away with bullet drop of about 40 feet or something. That's pretty awesome.![]()

In the end of the day its one weapon, it is interesting to see so meany people botherd over a lone wolf playing class.
If anythink i would much rarther see how the 'Stryker' is going to be used with its rear hull AT missiles than the problems with a sniper rifle.

The PLA and MEC have higher capacity magazines and a higher rate of fire (semi-automatic), they can use those to their advantage. Not every weapon and vehicle is going to have an exact equivalent.SilvuR wrote:Acutally now that I think about it, dropping the M24 would be a bad idea.
