[Vehicle] AAVP7A1

Post by motherdear »

as the title states i am going to be modeling the AAVP7A1
Image

general info
this is an Armored Amphibious Vehicle used by the united states marine core as their main beach assault craft.
it's top speed is 72 km/h on ground
and 13,2 km/h in the water

offensive and defensive capabilities
defensive
M257 Smoke Grenade Launcher system: two 4-tube launchers (66mm UKL8A1/A3 smoke grenades)
offensive
.50 cal M2HB machine gun 200 ready. 1,000 rounds
40mm MK-19 grenade machine gun 96 ready. 768 rounds

the model will be made without the EAAK armor kit since i have only found bad references of it, but could be considered if people really want it on.
also if this vehicle ever gets ingame it will have to be decided upon if we want it without or with the grenade launcher, but it's basicly an integrated part of the platform and therefore should be added in my opinion.

but before this discussion begins i'll post some screenshots of current progress:
Image

still a basic blockout just trying to get dimensions and similar right, and i feel that it's actually a bit too tall at the moment but will be fixing that at a later time

Cool mate :)

Judging from your latest few projects I'm sure this will turn out just perfect.
If you run into any problems just ask as always :)

looking really nice, I like to have other models to get the right scale feel, even with the grid set, the soldiers not exactly 6ft so can make a difference and know the tank supposed to be 2/3's the real size plus a lot of the other objects arn't RL sizes either.

Will be an awesome addition. :)

watch out barracuda :)

well first of all I don't decide if this will be going in, i'm creating it for the fun and the experience and if the devs want it they are more than welcome.

thx eenix, redid the body again already, proportions are right now :D , but i guess i will be putting the modular armor kit on it, since it seems like that is what is used by the majority of the vehicles in modern day iraq and similar.

readjusted the body proportions, and fixed the front end so that it looks right now.

viewport grabs and an overlay picture:

will begin work on a prototype armor for it that i can put right ontop
i plan to use the shell modifier for this since it will be really easy to get proportions right and to make the angled nature of the plate armor this way. or at least that's what i hope it will do.

ye PR has been in need for a proper AAV (that's not Anit-Air vehicle btw for any of you who might get confused, Amphibious Assault Vehicle ;) ) for the USMC for some time since we have just been using the LAV-25 as a place holder for that role hehe.

hehe, providing its good enough

I was hoping for some time we might be able to strike a deal for the POE2 AAVP7A1 and almost managed to trade it for our Harrier thou that deal fell though, most likely because of there policy that there work is only used for POE2 :(
