New model and animations for artillery

Post by HangMan_ »

Not a fan of the vBf2 arty as it is totally unrealistic. If it were modified to use a model like the player controlled arty in EOD then it wouldnt have to be hidden all the time (i havent seen it in PR yet). The animation for it currently is simply a joke. Would like to see sum good arty guns for JDAM.

Just a suggestion :)

The arty piece is present on every map that gets an area attack. IRL JDAM's are air dropped but that's not how the game works.

If you look hard enough, you'll find them. They're always out of bounds, but if you manage to blow it up, they lose their area attack :p

Did this once on Archer for shits and giggles.

this gave me the idea of...

is it possible to make them invisible? like remove the texture maybe, just so they wont be visable any more?

it doesnt work like that. if you remove the texture the game will crash

HangMan: BF2 Editor, it has very strict limitations memory wise, and crashes all the time. Its like a girl. Treat it with respect and take it slow and you'll get places. Rush and get ahead of yourself and it will turn around and punch you in the mouth

don't worry about it, it works as it is.

though the AT guns could use a recoil animation.

well you wouldnt need to "remove" the texture, but you could make it as the civilian kit, i thin kyou need to make something with the alpha channels etc

Couldn't you also replace the artillery pieces with invisible boxes or just remove the geometry? Is there something that requires the geometry to be present?

Why not place the artillery guns right next to each other so people don't know which one is for their team? That would eliminate the few occurrences of people destroying the guns for an unfair advantage.

Omg this just gave me a cool idea. Could you add some kinda of sound where 5 - 10 seconds before JDAM impact all you hear is a Jet going super sonic in the sky. Then the enemy will be looking in the sky and saying, "Oh *&^%, we are so screwed! LEG IT!" BOOOOOOOOM!

I also love the idea from a previously suggested thread. Having an imaginary AC-130 in the sky but you can use its weaponry the same way JDAMs and Arty works. Its main cannon can fire more HE rounds than normal arty. Or the GAU-8 rotary guns. THen have the strikes available more often than 30mins. Would be awesome on maps such as Kashan.

are you serious? I cant hear it. All i hear is the bomb screaming down to earth. Surely you must hear the jet overhead before hand?

I'm not so sure about that..., would depend on the speed and altitude of the Jet I guess...

"When you hear the enemy aircraft the bombs are already falling..."

According to a Field Manual known as SoldF 1986 :-o

I'm certain there is aircraft sound when dropping the JDAM though... ;)

Cant you make the texture like one pixel big? Or would it then just duplicate or stretch around the mesh?
