Replace Attack helos by light Antitank versions!

Maybe it would be great to replace the cobra/Mi28/Chinese one (?!) by light antitank choppers...
Actually the choppers are VERY strong and have no really vulnerable point as they are strong vs groups of infantry AND tanks!
Maybe the Pah BO (Anti tank) the Helix or the Mi24 would be a great addition.
Especially the PAH BO would be great as it is vulnerable to light machine guns but strong vs tanks due to it heatseeking air-to-ground missiles.
Those choppers would be really great at Steelthunder or Nightshift, they would propably be a nice countermeasure vs great masses of tanks and would make infantry more interesting.

think about it...I played Soldner for a long time, and those choppers were really great for rebalancing maps when tanks became too strong!

The current choppers pretty much are anti-tank. Those TV missiles are one hit kills last time I checked.

yeah...but as soon as one of them is in the air, most the map is focussed on killing it...as it`s dangerous for both, infantry and tanks!
By replacing those with light "pure" Antitank versions, the infantry would play a more important role.

American one could be the KIOWA (http://www.army-technology.com/projects/kiowa/)

if this is to remain a "slightly futuristic" mod, I would like to see others than the BO 105 or Helix.. plus, the Mi 24 is, if not stronger, at least as strong as the other attack helos.. it can carry I don't know how much **** AND soldiers.. and it's virtually indestructible by small arms fire..

and the AS550 is a bit TOO light.. I’d go for the EC635, also sold to countries like Jordan and others..

Yeah...forget about the MI24 and the Helix...those are not necessary...
I think only light armoured/non armoured Choppers would be a real fitting addition!
So it should be a Helicopter that can be penetrated by light weapons, especially machine guns, and it should be able to bear Antitank missiles, too!

The BO-105 doesn't carry heat-seeking ATGMs that I am aware of, just SACLOS and MCLOS wire or laser-guided missiles. It is used extensively in the Middle East, though; prior to Operation Desert Storm, Iraq had more of them than they did Mi-24s. The famous "air-to-air kill with a laser guided bomb" was on a BO-105.

The AS-550 Squirrel is in use by the PLA as the WZ-11 light attack/armed scout helicopter. It is being released in the Armored Fury expansion pack for BF2, along with the EC 635 as the scout helicopter for the MEC.

We do plan to include armed scout and light attack helicopters and have work-in-progress models of the Chinese WZ-9 and the US OH-58D Kiowa Warrior in the Media Gallery of the forum.

I really do not like attack choppers. They can defeat everything except planes. I really hope that attack choppers will find themselves in limited use.

No balancing is needed for prmm; it's perfect. We need realistic military elements that are prominantly in use in real life.

Attackhelis are just good when there is both a capable pilot AND a skilled gunner. That's kind of rare in my experience (I'm a pilot and 70% of my gunners are 100% incompetent).

If you have a problem with a heli just jump in a jeep and take it down. Not very difficult if you know how to aim, and the pilot/gunner are average players.

I think the best solution to this problem is adding an Anti Air rocket lancher ( ex. Stinger ) for Anti Tank or other class...

well your saying that you want to add light/no armor choppers to the game so and infantry can take some shots at it and do some damage. I think you'll find if everyone did that anyway to the current ones they blow up pretty quickly. I can say how many times I've blow up a chopper with a shotgun but yes that wasnt on this mod.

You also mentioned scout choppers, have you looked at the RH-66 (I think) comanche heli. last I heard of it theres were two prototypes but this was 4 years ago (again I think). Or maby even add an A-10 jet instead of anti tank helies, what you dont think a 20 foot long gatling gun can do it?

Last i heard, it was cancelled.. too bad, it was such a nice helicopter..
