Well, you may notice that alot of squads tend to be called ENG VOIP, these should be the teams you look for if you're not good with languages, then again, I was in an ENG VOIP team just the other day and they were all talking German.

Re: multi-national teams. Help?
Simple answer, use the commo rose. It has all the necessary things like "I need support" "enemy contact" "follow me" "I need APC/Helo" etc, and as far as I know it is translated into the every language of battlefield, so where you hear English, they will hear German, French, etc.
Also, numbers are pretty common, so if you call for a helo using the commo rose, and the pilot is German, he will still hear your request for a helo and come pick you up, and he will understand the meaning of "H3 kp 2" or "D7 kp 8" when you get into his chopper or whatever location you want to go even if he doesn't speak English because it's just numbers, and (as far as I know and as far as I've seen playing online), everyone uses the same keypad and grid referencing regardless of their national language.
Beyond that... people just don't always speak the same language. Sometimes you just can't always coordinate as well as you'd like. Just as an aside though, I love that PR has caught on so much in the international community. I've run into people playing from a large variety of countries and pretty much every continent on the globe. Its cool to see, politics aside, everyone on an international scale getting together to go "kill stuff" online together

English = International Language.
I'm a french Canadian and I obviously use english in PR if I'm not playing with other french speaking peoples.

Re: multi-national teams. Help?
We have had no trouble whatsoever with passing the information to the other squads in our server where ~50% of the players are finnish and others who speak different languages.Tophatter94 wrote:Any tips for playing on servers with multi-national teams? I just got done playing in a server with a French squad, a German Squad, an English Squad, and a Russian Squad. Naturally, I joined the English Squad. Since the squads all spoke different languages there was not much teamwork and our team lost.
Does anybody know effective ways to communicate with a multi-national team? A list of import things to say in different languages would be nice. Important things being tactical stuff like: enemy spotted, enemy tank, need help, attack here, defend here, etc.
Usually people exchange information which is concerning only two finnish squads in finnish (ride, sit. rep. etc), but "main reports" are passed in english.
However, some people don't bother to read the teamchat and simply ignore the information that's passed on, it's not the servers fault. I've seen this happening many many times in numerous different servers.
One guy from clan X, who fancy our server, did learn some finnish words to easily ask "where to" with heli and some others aswell (dirty ones

If i play in US they don't understand my spoken english
French don't speak english if not forced to. Germans are quite good at english as are scandinavians.
All those still prefer they own language first.
Thus language is dependent on players currently on server.
Most of the people cannot understand the commarose when playing other than bluefor side.
How meny times iw yelled "bail out" in "MEC" without driver understanding it...

Re: multi-national teams. Help?
People usually use VO to get the actual sides languages. Having CMO/Chineses... speaking German, French... sounds pretty gay TBH.Simple answer, use the commo rose. Vege is right, actually English speaking skill in western europe is kinda like the snow : it melts with the sun.
I personally play in a clan where most people speak a pretty poor english, worst than mine for the most. Speaking for myself, It already takes me a lot of focusing to follow or lead an English speaking squad and I just can't manage to speak French on the TeamSpeak while using English for green mobs joining the squad (although I'll happily and always use English to report useful intel on the teamchat).
This is sad but the way English is taught here in stinky-cheese land sucks balls. We should send people to Scandinavian country to see how they're doing that good.
Many thanks to everyone involved in the making of the best videogaming experience ever !

Re: multi-national teams. Help?
Hell, if its a german squad, just use simple english. Most of the ppl understand it well enough, and some words or sentences are already common "german" gamer language, like APC, AA and H-AT. I never encountered someone yet who wouldnt understand at least basic english on an european server. If all that fails, go for the commo rose.
RHS4190 translation:
defend= verteidigen (the verb, the noun would be "Verteidigung")
APC = Schützenpanzer or in gamer terms "APC"
plane = Flugzeug or just Jet, Platane is a tree
medic = most of the time its just medic otherwise Sanitaeter or Sani for short
front = could either be the front line or "vorn(e)" like in front, "vor" would be before (time) or in front of
enemy front = see above, Feind vorn(e)
spotted - gesichtet, but spotted might work also

"Enemy platane, 230!"
Everytime i was in a german squad and a non-jerrie joined, we all switched to english or atleast told him that we want to speak german only. But there were never problems with english team messages. Unfortunately some of our french comrades arent that good in english

Wait what? So if your a German Player all the Commoroses "shouts" come in german? Or is it the text?
Anywho, usually if you get a frenchie who cant speak, i just usually babel something, in horrible french, and yell whenever he does something wrong. Most people understand Yes! and No! So you can teach foreigners like dogs, but then again i treat all people in my Squad as dogs.
Also german people, you can just shout SCHNELL! And Raus! and stuff like that... Also NEIN!
haha!
This is a really cool thread!

Even if those would have all been accurate, they're of no use if you don't know how to pronounce the words. Something that reqiures a basic knowledge of german grammar.
If you're on a server with alot of "French inf" "German inf" "Greek inf" etc, you're screwed really, it's as simple as that.
You're not going to get any team cohesion when everyone are speaking different languages.
Leave the server and go find one where everyone speaks english.

German and French people get the voices in their own language. The rest of the localizations are text only.Wicca wrote:Wait what? So if your a German Player all the Commoroses "shouts" come in german? Or is it the text?
Just like it is in Eurovision - the French just seem unable to learn a 2nd language

I think my vBf2 had english, chinese, etc. voices but german text. But ive seen some vids with german voices.Zrix wrote:German and French people get the voices in their own language. The rest of the localizations are text only.
Anyway, the text messages in PR are all in english, no matter what language your vBf2 has.

Re: multi-national teams. Help?
simple thing to see for many languages... but you will want to make your own word file or something to see what each word is exactly....
go to where you store the bf2 game thing, like c
rogram files/ea games/ bf2
then go into mods
then pr
then localization
it helps to look throw the english one first, but you can fine what you want in many languages there
i would dl notepad ++ and use that to open them, thats what i do
