Machineguns LAT

The machineguns overheat too quickly. I do not think that is realistic, also it is a bummer in game. While it does not matter that much over range, they can not do what they were once built for, mov down close charging infantery.

Can we give the LAT some area effect ? I am thinking like twice the blast radius of a grenade.

Machine guns seem ok to me. I only over heat them if I accidentally go cyclic,

I agree with the LAT area affect though.

MG's are constantly being tweaked so I doubt that the current overheat times will be the same in the next build.

L-AT area affect has been tweaked to give more realistic values. Besides what do you need it for, the only thing you should be shooting with L-AT is vehicles for which you do not need area affect.

I wouldn't go that far. Plenty of cases where a rocket through a window of a building comes in handy.

Would it be used this way in RL? No. So you shouldn't need to in PR. It does it's job as it does in RL and that is all it needs to do.

im no expert, but i remember seeing a video explaining that the "light AT" that the german army uses can also be used as anti infantry by shooting through walls and exploding behind with shrapnel etc.

In youtube videos they seem use Lat quite a lot in A'stan on infantry, they shoot everything that will shoot it seems.

Anyways: a minimi barrel being burned by Hollands finest.

If you can read this the ***** fell off.

Well it's all about how you shoot the machine gun.
If you shoot it in controled bursts.
It should work out well without overheating.

And yes I agree with the LAT thing :P

To be honest I'm of the opinion that either everything should overheat or nothing should over heat. You fire hundreds of rounds through an assault rifle or carbine and they'll over heat just a surely (and probably more quickly owing to not having heavy profile barrels along with a few other factors) as a machine gun.
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

Was playing Asad khal on RT earlier and we were being supressed by a LMG firing from a compound about 100 meters away from us. Me - The LAT was ordered to hit the building and kill the 2-3 guys inside. I aim and it goes straight through the window into the house. Boom! But the LMG was still firing from the same god damn position but his mates were dead.

So! Increasing the area damage and maybe make a little blurr afterwards? Cause lets be serious, having the current deviation rules has pretty muched nerfed the LAT alot.

I feel the LAT kits have been pretty much nerfed over the ages less splash, less damage they are pretty much useless against infantry. Hopefully one day we will get some HE rounds instead of strictly AP rounds.

The only problem with the LAT is that it doesn't do it's job.
After a direct hit in a weak spot almost all APC's are still going and will simply turn around and head back to main for repairs.

It doesn't need to destroy the APC completely, but it should at least kill all the people inside, rendering the vehicle inert.

I have no real proof of L-ATs in real life being used as anti-personell. But I know that the AT4 is an 84mm HE round, at least that's what I think.

If it was used as Anti-Personell, it might be used not for *splash* damage killing people, but by destroying the structures they hide behind. That's what I think, to be honest I have no real clue on the matter.

I think the idea is that if you don't have a HAT you have to either 1) reload ur LAT, or 2) work with another squad which has some kind of AT.

I think the LAT Vs APC effectiveness is perfect, but the anti-infantry aspect should be rexamined.

I don't know if anyone has noticed but when you shoot a LAT into the american APC it only becomes slower as in the wheels fall down but it can still move.
Me and some other guys shot a LAT into the apc in the back of it and that's all what we got.
