Arming Pilots.. Kit requestion suggestion

Post by Garmax »

I know as we all do People love to steal assets and what not specially the freakin awesome vehicles like cobras and Apaches so the pilot kit has been stripped of his pistol.

So what i suggest is if there is someway of when the person goes to request the pilot kit it is sent to the commander as a request to be given the kit

then the commander would see if the squad has rights to the asset and has claimed it and whatever then confirm or deny it, also maybe if the pilot is terrible and is wasting assests or something the commander has the right to reject his request and maybe he cant request that kit for a certain period of time

(like if you teamkill, or recently requested a kit)

[if there is no commander present, then i guess the kit should just appear how it normally would, isnt that how it works with firebases and stuff]

so there would really be no asset stealin, pilots could be reissued their pistold and everyonbe could continue with their happy lives

maybe there should be different pilot kits, like when you go to T rose right click pilot like you would to the officer kit and request maybe like (cobra pilot) or (transport pilot) or whatever
and there would only be given 2 cobra pilot kits and only they could fly the cobra so someone doesnt request like a huey pilot kit or something and then steals the cobra

also this would limit the people waiting around on the carrier or the base and stuff for the vehicle and make people go out into the fight and play pr like its supposed to be played after all you guys dont just make updates for realism but for gameplay

That isn't the reason for removing the pilot pistol, the reason was to discourage paratrooper squads and leet pistol squads on mall maps.

yeah, pilots need a pistol. or atleast a survival knife.
some helicopter pilots even carry an MP5...interesting...

And besides, why would the dev's want to go through all that trouble when the pilot wouldn't use the pistol aside from the very rare occasion?

realism.. fairness... gameplay.. fun.

I know that wasnt the only reason to remove the pistol but it surely influenced the decision.. and rare occasions happen more than just rarely.. as a pilot i've used that pistol more than you could imagine.

you can still discourage the parattrooper thing.. there would only be a limited amount of pilot kits given out. only to supply the number of vehicles avaliable and usable.. give the pilot one mag or anything it doesnt matter just something.

and besides that, its not only about the pistol.

Pilot-pistols brought about arcady gameplay. Taking them away solved it. Is there anything else that needs clarifying?

just think about it.. maybe you guys could take this idea and tweak it a little to perfection

im not about arcady gameplay.. but man it surely would help to have this system and a weapon.

have you ever seen superbad? everyone needs a pistol..

maybe if weapons are not a option. could the pilot get the options to raise his arms up to show that he is unarmed, just like the collaborator in version 0.86. so that they have to arrest him, rather killing him. this might give the pilot a change to survive and too call for reinforcements. i would love too see this ingame

Again, differentiated pilot kits, no parachutes for helicopter pilots and no pistol for jet pilots.
Would fix the arcady gameplay while still keeping the pilot pistol.

An absolutely flawless solution.

i wouldnt mind a knife, but dont give them a gun, its just another leet weapon.

I already use the MEC MP5 crewman kit for CQB.

This subject have been talked about so much now so what ever you suggest someone else have already suggested it.

The devs have a really good reason not to give the pilot kit a weapon. They know all the different idea people have mentioned to "fix" this, like different kits for the heli and jet pilots and different limitations of the kit.

They know all this and I'm sure they are discussing it on their private forum so just leave this topic please.

i can see the arcadey gameplay was an issue. but i remember being shot down recently, and landing next to two infantry men. they got their knifes out and tried to stab me for a good 3 minutes until they finally got me. it was really kind of ridiculous as i was jumping around trying to avoid being stabbed. it would have been nice (and more realistic than a jumping around pilot being chased by two infantrymen with knifes, which would've been accompanied well by the yakety sax no less) if i at least had a knife to defend myself.

Why dont you get why the pistol was taken away!? Boored pilots take their kit whit a pistol and knife go whit a chopper behind enemy lines and parachute to the enemy firebases to knife em out, now that the knife and pistol are out they cant touch the firebases

Does nobody get this, Im so tired of hearing about the PARACHUTE ISSUE! Take that away not the pistol... I dont really get why this is so hard...

oh ps Taking away the pistol didnt stop people from paratrooping...trust me.

I've noticed a lot less unrealistic behaviour since the weapons from the pilot kit were removed.

i have to say, i now flown quite a bit, and i have yet ever to eject from a helicopter.
i will sometimes get damaged and crash, but quite a few times i manage to crash land so we survive.

i would rather have them remove the parachute for heli pilots and give em a gun. that way people can't parachute in.
and if you are concerned about them landing a chopper and getting out, then they can just drop a crate and get themselves ammo anyways.

on a sidenote: can a repair station repair a downed chopper?
