Signal Flares

Post by calstifer »

Would it be possible for squad leaders to have one of their smokes replaced with a flare? So you can pop the smoke for a requested air strike/support and then to make it clear (say its in the woods) you would pop a flare as they draw near. You would only get one and it would only be available to squad leaders.

I think a flare would be a good idea. maybe one smoke color and one flare color?
I hate popping smoke because it takes some time to build and stays there forever when you just want to get to your box that was dropped.... but if you had a flare then you could pop it off, the chopper can land and your re laded and outa there! the flare is there then gone.

Is it worth another weapon slot?

i kinda like the idea,, would be usefull to indicate a firefight as you cant see smoke behind buildings, dont know how much work is required to do it but sounds neat

cant be too hard, you can already make your fist shoot flares via a small script change in sandbox.. just make it shoot farther and give it a model.

What im saying is that yes, it should replace 1 of the signal smokes. What's the point of 2 colours? Wouldnt you rather a flare?

Smoke doesnt work in woody area's anyway.. If you pop smoke in a tree- area or a street like muttera city they wont be able to see it- A flare can go over roof tops and trees making a more accerate air attack

Tbh i would like to keep my smoke as i assign my 2 smokes. One can be crate/pick up etc the other is Enemy location. A flare would yes stand in the for the attack one, but it would be much harder to get there. with a smoke i can throw it at my desired location or near it, with a flare i have to be on it.

I would much rather have the signal smoke that the officers used to have. It went in a cone upwards, rather than a huge plume in all directions.
Players might be hardcoded, but that sure doesn't seem to stop anybody from trying.

The only winning move is not to play. Insurgency, that is.

How can u be shure that the weatherconditions is so good that the smoke went upwards in a cone instead of a cloud. If you throw a smoke and a signal they most likely will be affected in the same way of the wind?
Please show us a video of the smoke going upp in a cone... It need´s to be alot of smoke for a long time to produce that kind of effect...

Nice that you share your ideas, but I think I rather see the dev-team put their precious time on more importatn things.
