[Help!] Objects disapear in BF2editor
I've recently reinstalled windows, cause I installed a new HDD (same as the old one).
And now, in BF2editor, objects keep "disapearing" when i look at them at certain angles and when im "too far away", but im not too far away, the camer's actually quite close.
Its like the view distance is stuffed up for objects.
How can I fix this?! Please.

Re: [Help!] Objects disapear in BF2editor
I get the same thing on mine. As far as I know it is a problem with the editor, I loaded up Karbala and some other maps to see if it happened on them as well, and it did. It seems to be a problem with elevation of terrain and object placement but it only seems to happen in the editor and not in-game.
As Rudd said, you can close the editor and reload and it should fix it - don't be alarmed if it keeps happening though, but if it happens in-game then you've got a real problem
Another problem might be your object view distance. to increase it, enter into the command prompt at the bottom of the editor:
renderer minCullDistance 2000
in each corresponding box. This should make all objects render at a range of 2000 meters.

A screeny would be helpful.
When you create a new map, it's normal that objects disappear. Close the editor and load your map again, should fix it. Same thing might happen with overgrowth, nothing to worry about.
Also, sometimes, objects disappear at certain angles at certain distances if you stick too many objects into each other. I had that problem some time ago and it also happened ingame.

This problem almost drove me nuts! There will be a certain static causing the issue - usually a large one like a warehouse or something. Sometimes it happens even where there are not many statics, so imo it is related to certain locations on the map, that suddenly decide they dont like statics.[R-DEV]Hans Martin Slayer wrote: Also, sometimes, objects disappear at certain angles at certain distances if you stick too many objects into each other. I was never able to track it down..
It seemed to happen pretty randomly but preferably when building complex underground stuff. Then again i've seen it happen on other's maps as well with just a few statics used.
At some occasions, it's just a few statics disappearing but sometimes a whole cityblock disappears..

in the bottom right there are 3 drop down boxes select these in them:
renderer
minculldistance
2000 (type this one in)
then press the green button next to it.
Now you can see your objects from distance but you must do this after each time you have loaded the map in the editor.

The OP is talking about a different problem, which is a weird glitch in bf2.[R-COM]$pyker wrote:in the bottom right there are 3 drop down boxes select these in them:

Re: [Help!] Objects disapear in BF2editor
So is there any way around it? I have a subway system running underneath the city in my map that i spent a long, long time making. In some areas within the subway (which is made up 20-30 Tunnel sections used on Operation Ghost Train) almost everything disappears. I can't check if this happens in-game yet, I'm not up to the stage of getting it into PR atm.[R-DEV]Hans Martin Slayer wrote:I was never able to track it down..

I assumed it was a problem with the editor because as I said, on a couple PR maps I tried, the same sort of thing happened. I just don't want to finish the map and find out that this problem occurs in game

Re: [Help!] Objects disapear in BF2editor
The problem will appear in game. The only way around it is to find the static that is causing it, and delete it. As I said it is probably a large building in the area where the problem occurs.

Cheers mate, I'll try and sort it out. I'm going to make the thread on the map in the ADF section soon, once I get it looking pretty

All is good.
I not sure if it was the restarting, if it randomly fixed itself or if it was the "renderer minCullDistance 2000" thing, but it's ok now.
Thanks alot guys
