Forward air controller Kit.

Post by Cassius »

Some clans and servers make a lot of use of mumble ventrillo teamspeak or several of those programs and then you have to fiddle with the channels and sometimes you have to mute them because its too much of a distraction, but then you are not in contact with the other squads either.
In other words, its quite a hassle and while you are talking to other squads arguing with the CO and trying to find your way around you hardly notice what is happening around you.

It would be nice to be able to designate somebody as radioman, so you can squadlead instead of wrestling 3rd party VOIP programs, but then he does not have a Soflam to lase targets while he is on comms with CAS.

Could we have a kit unlimited in numbers, but restricted to one per squad where the binoculars are replaced by a soflam maybe even as a spawnable kit ?

Isn't that describing the squad leader kit (one per squad, unlimited with soflam)? Why shouldn't the SL be the one lazing targets? If it is distractions, then you should just ask the person(s) to be quiet while you laze.

FACs don't operate in infantry squads but in special JTAC squads or together with forward observers.
It is realistic that normal SLs are worse at calling in CAS.
Don't quote me on that though.
User Ubaydah: "I used to play Call of Duty a lot and Battlefield 3. I am really good at those games 10th prestige, High K/d., I can kill people easily, etc. But on PR, for me, to be honest, I kind of suck."

User Not_able_to_kill: "Frontliner, you like evil man who comes to family house during christmas, takes out tree because it's too happy, so they can be just as sad as you"

Well it is kind of minus the colored smoke and the pistol I guess. When you designate somebody as radioman so you dont have to talk on mumble/teamspeak it would make sense if the person who is talking to CAS can lase targets.

Or he could just signal you to laze when he would do so himself, it does last 30 seconds after you trigger the laze if I recall correctly.

I would rather have the SOFLAM transfered from the sniper kit to the specialist, or added for that matter. Really it all comes down to manpower, there are only 32 people a side, and if I was commanding I wouldn't want to waste manpower with a kit like that.
But trust me I'm all for JTAC. Whenever I don't play Insurgency (which isn't often), I go play Kashan and I make a JTAC squad. :D
I just don't see this happening...

The FAC role can also be carried out by other aircraft - one aircraft will fly in ahead as part of an attack package, and locate and identify enemy ground units for then to direct the attack fighters to them upon their arrival.

At least that's how it worked in Falcon 4.0 Allied Force  .

There's only ever 2 Jets/Attack Helis on any maps, maybe less.

Personally I'm confused with the Whole "radioman" Thing, would the Radio man be the only person talking in vent/teamspeak (Both of which are utterly useless for team play as the Squad/Commander VoiP Is fine) if so why not just desginate one person to be unmuted while every 1 else is muted?
