CTD - Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

Post by Japub »

Hey guys!

[PROBLEM]: Upon loading any map or server I get a CTD when it's fully loaded, just as the "Squad Assignment"-button appears.

This is after the client verification thingy or whatever it is. From what I've understood it's the part where PB may cause a CTD if PB is the problem. So it seems PB is not my problem.

I've never gotten any error message until now, after I tried and updated my graphics card drivers:
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

Runtime Error!

Program: C:\Program\EA GAMES\\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.

Specs:
Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q9400 @ 2.66Ghz
2,00 GB RAM
ATI Radeon HD 4870

Any suggestions on how to fix this? What is Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library?

I uninstalled everything and installed it on a new disk, which I've never used before. The problem remains. I searched a bit on the web on how to find bf2 error logs and I found that BF2 creates something called .dmp-files which is something like that. Although someone said those are useless. I don't know much about log-stuff but does this give anyone, any light on this problem?

I'm gonna search around on the web a little more on this error message and see what comes up.

Its a BF2 error so those logs would more likely mean something to EA. However if you look about on the web, the VC++ runtime errors are fairly well known and are down to having an old bugged version of VS2005 runtime files installed.

Used to cause loads of problems for games 5 or so years old.

I've looked all over the web it seems, but I find only questions and no answers. :( I'm downloading vs2005 SP1 now to see if that fixes anything.

Hrm... that service pack didn't work for my version. And I can't even find Visual Studio on my PC, does anyone where to locate it?

Visual Studio wont be on the PC ... its just the run time files. Manufacturers who made games with visual studio used to have to export some of the functionality of the IDE with the program.

I guess BF2 must have been one of those games. You are not the only one ...

runtime error i need help

I am afraid I don't know much more about it than that ... I have always had visual studio versions installed and I have never got that error.

This is so strange. I only had that error once, the rest of the time I just CTD without a message.

Thanks alot for the help though! I hope that link can get me somewhere.
