Allow me to introduce... myself

Post by therealjarett »

Hello, I just registered here. I played PR a year or so ago for a while but got rid of it because my computer was having issues. I just downloaded it again a day ago with the new patch and new BF2 1.5 patch and I must say this mod has come a long way. It is one of the best realistic mods I have ever played. I just wanted to introduce myself and hopefully can become part of this great community.

I will, however have to say that a few players from a certain clan are horrible people to play with. I joined a server and the commander asked me to attack a position, so I went prone about a km away up on a hill behind some trees and fired upon enemies at the attack location. Then I got yelled at and called childish names because I was "giving away our position". Some people... it is ok though, I joined a squad with a really cool guy who gave me a lot of good tips and stood up for me against the flamers. Next game I had my own squad with 5 people who helped our team win the game, which was awesome. Being an officer is fun.

Before you all go off and say RTFM, I have. I get the game. It takes a lot more than a manual to figure this game out. It takes time and dedication, but that is what makes this game stand out. The experiences you gain from playtime are what make you a good player. This isn't a COD4 type game where you jump in a server and kill 20 people. This game takes strategy, and planning. And the fact that people actually work together as a team (most of the time) makes it that much better. This is an awesome mod guys, good job. I hope to see you continue, and I look forward to the ideas of PR2.

Another question, or more of a suggestion of sorts: not really a big deal but just had to ask, why isn't the U.S. Army flag patch on the correct side? I did a search for this on the forums and came up with nothing. The patch goes on the right arm, and should be reversed to symbolize the soldier moving forward as the flag waves back in the wind.

Welcome to teh forums.

I think this has come up b4, I'm not entirely sure, but I think it might need a new texture pallet, but word is that there are whole new models coming for the US avatar, so I guess either its being redone behind the scenes or its not being done in favour of working on other projects, since new player models will require a whole new texture anyways.

Edit: Rudd beat me.

Hey, hope to see you on the Tactical Gamer server.

About the flag, I wonder if there is some kind of technical explanation to it not being the correct way, like mirrored textures. The symbolic flag patch being on "the wrong way" on one side is a tradition shared by not only the US Army, but also many other armed forces in different countries.

Hola, welcome. Don't worry about the asshats, I'd say they are few and far between, but that's not always true. You'll sort out who's worth playing with and who's not.
