EGO - The best gaming engine to date?

Post by KaRcop »

Hey,

Not the biggest techie but from the quick look around I've had, it seems like the EGO engine completely blows the BF2 one out of the water. In my personal opinion, if there ever was a time to break away into a separate game "Project Reality" then the EGO engine is the engine to do so with. Just to give you an example of how one group of devs is using it, check out this site;

Operation Flashpoint - Country Selector

Any feedback welcome :mrgreen:

Ist this the OFP2 engine? PR is PR on BF2 engine, PR2 will be on c4 engine if made...

That thing probably costs around $99659276976529697659362967592, and devs do not have so much money I believe...

Mod for OFP2 would be useless on the other side... too much work -.-

Fair Play! What games currently use the C4 engine?

KaRcop, C4 Engine's website shows some demos of what the engine can do, The games which use the engine are indie games - Any big game developer would create their own engine or buy another engine rather than using a more general-purpose engine like C4. The best example of the engine I think is the World of Subways game which is very detailed.

There is a thread in the suggestion's sub-forum which is dedicated to engine suggestions. As it goes, the C4 engine is quite capable of doing what the devs want it to do - And they have the source code so they can extend it if they wish to add features.

Also, in terms of "The best engine to date", i'd say the cryengines are far ahead in terms of graphical techniques, and I would argue that the Infinity Game engine is quite far along in terms of procedural generation, along with the Spore engine. "The best" is something very hard to measure.

I Did not know that the "C4 Engine" had been fully chosen. I Know that the DEVs was looking at it. But I did not know they had settled for it. Still plenty of time to go before you should be worrying about that sort of thing.

PR2 R&D #2 - more wacky stuff - Project Reality Forums

There's some experiments, I think they've just been messing around with it for now and getting used to it (Quite a big step up from doing a mod).
