New Kit Idea - Staff Sergeant

Post by Scandicci »

Hello to the community.

I looked here ALREADY SUGGESTED.

And I did a search but found nothing.

My idea would be to create a kit that functions as a number 2 under the squad officer position: a sort of fireteam leader. This kit would have its own unique layout for each army but would have some of the functionality of the officer without replacing him completely. Of all the powerful tools at the disposal of the officer kit I would say that a limited number of them would be available to the staff sergeant. Here are a few that would be interesting to have.

1. placement of markers for squad members
2. request, transport, supplies (not CAS)
3. place rally point

I can imagine that hardcoding might kill this in its crib.

What do you think?

I think this idea is a better suggestion for PR2. Don't see it happening in PR at the moment due to restriction on the BF2 engine...

My suspicion is that hardcoding makes this impossible. As you suggest, perhaps in PR2 with larger 8 or 10 man squads this sort of kit would make a lot more sense and be more useful. In the current PR it might be an overkill. I have seen situations in-game where having some of the officer functionality in a second squad member would have dramatically effected the outcome of a fire fight or encounter.

It's a nice idea, but since we are already limited in the amount of players on a team and members in a squad, fireteam leaders make very little since imo.

I look forward to having a squad of 10 fact screw to what we need is squad‘s made up of 12 people, a squad of 6 is enough for BF2 because let's face it's a noob's game, you don't have to really on any one there no real need for team work ,all you have to do is Hack and prone dive your self to success.

But for PR 6 man squad's don't cut it really, There too small to properly secure a area and all the flanks, your are constantly left with holes in your formations in which the enemy flank or walk through and get right on top of you.

It ok when you have two squad's working in proximity and covering each other's flanks, but since when does that happen and when it does it not very often or very organised, due to the crappy Com system BF2 has,

2 rallypoints won't work. And fireteams works quite well when the SL is promoting one from the squad as it is now.

And squads should be renamed fireteams...
Good thinking here.

When you enter a room full of armed men, shoot the first person who makes a move, hostile or otherwise.

He has started to think and is therefore dangerous.

T-commo is hardcoded for SLs (or SMs). No "specific". I beli8eve
Guys, when a new player comes, just answer his question and go on your merry way, instead of going berserk! It's THAT simple! :D

for PR2 with 10-12 man squads hell yeah, hell make it so only squad leader and said NCO are the only ones who can directly contact each other via radio, where as everyone else has to be relayed the information from the one of the 2 which they are closest to through mumble
