Screen Dot's and AR Kits
Speaking of Gazz's AR Kits, I'd like to know wether or not it is considered cheating to place a red dot on your monitor. The reason I ask is because I dont want to hack or create an unfair advantage, when I use this in-game, especially when it comes to the undeployed AR.
Now I dont believe that this is unfair because anyone can purchase a red-permanent marker and place a red dot on their screen. I use this method when I am told to use AR and especially for when CQB is in the not too distant future, walking slowly and zoomed in of course otherwise I couldn't hit a barn 1 meter in front of me.
What are your thoughts?
P.S.
It doesn't ruin your screen. Put some isopropyl alchohol on a paper towel or tissue and its as though it was never there.

Re: Screen Dot's and AR Kits
50 meters huh?
Well when I cant afford to deploy--I'm ready to rock and roll in UnDep--I zoom in and create relatively effective suppression and get a few kills in the process.
Lame? Try it and then tell me it isnt effective.
But is it Cheating?

yeah, this method sucks, another guy posted such "hint" about .50 cals(he put small paper triangle on screen)
for me this is equal to reddot hack\xfire overlay crosshair and i would personally ban you on server after such avowal
then dont use it, crosshairs were removed for a reasonThe reason I ask is because I dont want to hack or create an unfair advantage,

Re: Screen Dot's and AR Kits
Of course it is cheating, and a rather ineffective way of doing so :/
It's not as bad as third party programs that edit game files or stuff like that, but it still is unfair.
And while other players COULD do the same too, that's no excuse. I'm sure I COULD use third party programs if I wanted to, but I don't, as that's a) boring and b) bad sportsmanship.

Re: Screen Dot's and AR Kits
you actually draw with a permanent marker on your screen?....
You dont need to draw a dot on your screen or anything like that, since you gun is pointing towards the centre of the screen when your not aiming in giving you a good ref to where it is and the deviation is so grate when not scoped in, epically for a LMG that a red dot is useless since the bullets are going to go pretty much anywhere but that red dot.
Draw a dot on your screen if you like, but it aint going to help you and going to look soo stupid on your screen.

A Paper Triangle!?! Well my method is much more elegant.DankE_SPB wrote:yeah, this method sucks, another guy posted such "hint" about .50 cals(he put small paper triangle on screen)

yes
Crosshairs were removed because in real life you dont have crosshairs stuck onto your eyeballs, trained to your gun.
So I guess this comes down to adding a right-click view over and along the ACOG or Elcan, I guess when that is implemented then I wont have to use Red-dot to provide quick accurate fire for my fireteam.
BTW its just a game, it is not reality. When I get to play casually, I try to play as well as I can for my team, that is my only reason for using it, and teamplay is why I play.
But It is unfair and I'll only play fair because I expect others to do so, so according to these posts I'll stop using it.
(There is a great difference between 3rd party programs and a marker I use for school.
Red-dot hacking? I had no Idea there was such a thing.
Innefective? What is innefective? When I Zoom in (Rhino) the deviation actually seems more usable than deploying the weapon. Nice sig btw.)

Drawing a dot on your screen to get the "edge" on your opponents who play fairly?
That is incredibly lame and unsportsmanlike; grade-A cheating in my book.
If I was an admin, your *** would be out the door way before you could even say, "I r 1337!!1".

Re: Screen Dot's and AR Kits
Its dumb in every way.
would you use a hack to add the old vbf2 aim reticle back?
No you wouldn't, unfortunately there is no punkbuster that can enter your room and clean your monitor for you, then slap you over the head for 1) doing it and 2) asking if its cheating

I didn't think it was cheating because everyone I know owns a Sharpie permanent marker and a bottle of alcohol.
It's cheating FINE, I done told'ja I'd stop

I cant download hacks, I play on PB servers.
I'm too damn cheap to go buy something that I have to pay for every week. There is a reason I don't play WoW.
I should have posted something about this in the suggestions forum.

Re: Screen Dot's and AR Kits
Well, if you're really that concerned about cheating, then this thread is completely redundant and unnecessary. You're bringing back crosshairs, even though they were removed and no-one else has them, to abuse the already overpowered and abusable Automatic Rifle to engage hostiles at long range in undeployed mode.
This thread reminds me of someone who admitted to turning down they're graphics intentionally (even though his computer could handle high graphics) in order to make shooting people easier. However, he didn't realize that what he was doing was so looked down upon, LOL!
It's a no brainer and as Rhino said, it's pretty easy to find the center of your screen in undeployed mode without extra help anyways.

Not crosshairs, but weapon sights. If I dont right click, then I'd have better luck essentially throwing the weapon at them.google wrote:...You're bringing back crosshairs..
I'm talking about the right-click, just like on all other weapons, and like the deployed AR.
I, just suggested this btw, check it out.

Re: Screen Dot's and AR Kits
You do realize that undeployed whilst 'aiming' still has a very accurate grouping at close, even medium range. If you need to put a dot on your screen because you cant figure out where the center of your screen is your hopeless.

Ya know, Elvish, I know you don't like us CIA very much, but I still creamed one of your entire squads using this method. If can find the center of my screen faster than by guessing and faster than by playing games 18 hours a day, I think I'll do it.
But not anymore apparently because people would rather NOT have a reflex sight or something to that effect in the undeployed slot. (See suggestion thread)

uh yeah as you said, the crossheir was removed because theres no magic crossheir in real life, your dot is simply a crossheir in the form of a dot instead of a crossacemantura wrote:A Paper Triangle!?! Well my method is much more elegant.
