Front Panel Audio and Microphone Jack problems

Post by Ranger101 »

I have just bought a new desktop with the following system:

Operating System: Windows Vista SP2

Hardware:

ASUS P5KPL-AM/PS Motherboard
Intel Core2Quad Q8400 2.66Ghz
4GB RAM
Gigabyte Nvidia GTX 260
HDD Seagate 1TB 7200 SATA

There is an headphone and microphone jack at the front and as well as a line-in jack and microphone at the back.

The problem is that the computer does not detect any device if I plug in a microphone or headphone at the front panel. However the rear panel is working fine. I have searched over the internet and many sites suggest modifying settings on the sound manager but I have not been able to detect what sound manager I have.

Help would be appreciated.

EDIT: The motherboard supports four audio channels and I have updated all drivers for all of the hardware.

EDIT: Never mind problem solved.

Have you plugged in the front panel audio connector to the motherboard. If not, then that is the reason why it wont detect anything.

The connector on the mobo will be green i think. HD_Audio or something similar to that will be above or below it.

Well everything was plugged in. Strangely the Realtek Drivers disappeared from the system so I reinstalled it and it was working fine. Thanks for the reply anyway.
