CPU goes NUTZ at charging time.

Post by ralfidude »

Iv had this laptop for a long time, Vista XPS, and had the mobo replaced once, and everything is running nice and smooth. But, just recently, i started to get something very weird.

Im sitting at home with the laptop charging, and all of the sudden the entire pc slows up. I mean to the point of almost halting. I cntrl shift esc, and my CPU is runnign at 100%.... its a intel centrino duo. The second i take my charger plug off the laptop, the CPU goes down immediately to its regular 18-20% load.

Plug it back in, 100% CPU, lol, its the oddest thing.... And then 5-10 min later, it passes...

WTF?

No background programs run during those spikes. Its just the charger, which had never given me problems before. Any ideas?

Are you sure no background prcesses, couldn´t be something that runs only with the cable in every now and again?

Most anti-viruses don't run a scan when your on battery life, check to make sure one doesn't start when you plug in.

Nope, i check the runnign programs, and nothing on there says that its using up my CPU, the tast manager starts to run at 30 CPU, Ie starts to run at 40, etc n so forth, so all the programs that are running normally. I googled this problem, and it seems im not the only one, but no solution has been given. People tried getting a new mobo, they tried getting a new charger, then they tried reinstalling vista, all to no avail, it still happens for them. Im lost...
