[PROBLEM] WiFi Freezing PC

Post by xatu miller »

Hey! So... I made a new gaming PC and everything works like a dream. At the end i decided to put in a Dlink DW-547 wireless adapter so i could connect to my network. I placed the adapter into the PCI slot and installed the drivers. I made sure that the PC is reading the card. Although when i connected to the network using the Dlink utility my pc froze. I thought it might have been just a first time usage accident and rebooted. The second time i attempted to connect using the win vista utility, same thing happened again  . After that my PC wouldn't load windows so i needed to run in Emergency mode. I uninstalled the drivers for the adapter and restarted. This time the windows loaded.

So i am stuck without internet on my new PC and don't know what to do. I tried searching the internet about the issue but I couldn't find any solution. Any help will be much appreciated.

My system spec are:
MB:Asus Rampage extreme II
CPU: Intercore i7 920 2,66ghz
OS: Windows Vista home ultimate 64bit
GPU: Evga Geforce GTX295
HD: WD 750GB
RAM: Corsair Dominator 6gb
DVD-RW: LG SuperMulti DVD

Thanks for help in advance!

Nice system.

If you can, borrow a USB WLAN dongle from a mate or someone, see if that allows you to connect. If it does then go and buy one for yourself.

I had huge problems with WIFI so I use homeplug network in the electricity things....plug and play with up to 200, I get a real DL of above 5.0 with them.

I use a french make called LEA as I get to keep the plug socket availble but surely many sorts available, but steer clear of the older 85 models as they are a bit 'limit' for online gaming.

Run some CAT5/CAT6 to your PC mate, its not that hard, and it can be routed fairly inconspicuously around the room or even neater, through some trunking. No substitute.
How much did you pay in Poland for that rig?

Hey! Now finally that i have gotten some time on to work on my right i decided simply run a cat5 around to my PC. I still have no idea what might have caused that trouble with my wireless connection. For the whole right i payed around: 1600 pounds and thats 1725 euro. This is with no monitor and with a awsome HAF-932 case(it actually gets colder under the desk when those 4 huge fans start working).

Thanks! I decided not to try with the dongle as it might have also failed for some another unknown reason. Plus i heard that they overheat too easily.
