campaign idea

Planning for some scenario games.. i was thinking.

Is it possible to get servers linked up together to create like a virtual war?

Lets say we get 5 servers, each one has a smaller map of even a bigger map.

Now we can already do that just by keeping track of wins/loses BUT what about having it on a virtual map that automatically updates itself? Have it on the main menu(where those awesome footages are now located)


Imagine having a global map and watching the way the wars going.

Of course you have multiple battles, but you can have like different theaters of war happening.

And maybe get servers close by to represent that conflict zone.


Just an idea :)

I think PR will last on through for awhile and the idea of everyone fighting a conflict ingame and see a progression will be hooked even more so.

You look at these new or upcoming games that only offer a new graphics, accessories and all that matter of **** but game play wise is repetitive.

any ideas?

Servers effecting other servers sounds pretty impossible to me

plus the game has two mode's theres the real world mode atm were we are fighting terry talib in afgan, and then theres a ww3 situation were super powers are fighting each other, but the idea could work if you only want the ww3 fights to add to the bigger pic, hope yous get what i mean

Don't have to effect other servers, just the one with the overall campaign map that shows how the campaign status.

I do, so you basically can start off as having multiple conflicts that are happening :)

You just have to choose which one your fighting for.

This has been discussed before and it is hard coded, unless a server has a map that follows a set rotation of maps that follow a path.

exactly what i mean you can not have infromation from other serverscome in another one its pretty much hardcoded like nearly everything else regarding servers

You can interact with other servers through Python. For example, "all you have to have" is a central (web)server that stores information, from which all the gameserver gather their info. It is not hardcoded, that term is not appropriate here.

It's possible, but you have to have quite a plan to organize it all for it to really work well, plus the performance issue. Who knows how the gameservers react to "constant" requests of information from the webserver, etc, etc, etc.
