First off I'll admit that I only skimmed and scanned the forums, and didn't read a whole lot of the topics, but I didn't spot anything that sounds like what I have.
I've been playing PR for 5 months now. Then on the 4th of Oct, out of the blue, I can hear commands from the com rose and other ingame saying from people in different squads anywhere on a map.
Ex. - Someone clear across the map requesting ammo "need ammo here!"
- Medic - "you're good to go"
-"enemy movement"
-"negative"
"GO GO GO"
etc
I can be alone in some remote part of the map, no one for a km, and my computer is screaming at me. When I open up the map and the spawn menu, which ever player(s) is communicating their dot will flash. No body else in my squads have this problem. So am I possibly bugged?
Steps taken to try to fix the problem:
tweeked sound settings
defualted sound settings
uninstall - reinstall 3x
Its stuck that way.
If this helps, here's my system specs:
Windows XP Home Edition SP2
AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2.1GHz
2048MB RAM
DirectX 9.0c
128MB RADEON 9600 PRO
Realtek AC97 Audio
Logitech USB Headset

Re: Sound Problems
Also, I'd like to note, that I can see the health of other players when I'm not medic and vice versa, but that is only occasionally.
I think I spotted that sni

Re: Sound Problems
So your voip works, but your hearing more than you should, right?
Sounds (no pun intended) like your preferences are 'buggered'
Something you can try before you uninstall/reinstall again.
Backup your BF2 folder that's inside your documents folder ( that's where your preferences are stored).
Once you have a backup delete the original from your documents folder.
Start PR from your PR shortcut.
A new default folder is created.
Link to your online account.
If all goes well (voip works) all you have to do to get your custom settings back is copy your 'control' file from your backup to the new profile folder.
path:
C:\Users\your user name here\Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\0002
note: you may not have a 0002 folder so use 0001
(choose the highest # folder, It is usually your currant profile folder)
PS I like to set my 'effects' setting down around 25-35%
Good luck
