I am sure we have all started off an insurgency map as American to see people grab the HAT, Sniper or Marksman and charge into combat as if they were wielding a sword. Almost always at least a few end up in enemy hands and there is nothing worse than watching every piece of armor leaving your main get spanked by your own HAT kits over and over.
Granted, this is a great tactic on the insurgent side but I was wondering if there was any way we could limit people wasting kits right off the bat like that.

Unfortunately, players are hardcoded.
If you play on a server that has good teamwork the player who does this will be corrected before he leaves the base by his squad mates.

There really is nothing better the shooting down a full blackhawk then finding a HAT or LAT in the mess of bodies. Then taking said kit and killing the stryker that is raping your main.

We all (including you) started at one point picking up these weapons and using them. Its just part of the learning process.

Help them realize why what they are doing is a bad idea. Curb the players, you can't code stupidity out of them. Sometimes you can even keep an eye on them and make sure that when they do run off and die horribly, you can prevent their kit from being grabbed by anyone but the magic kit fairy. Otherwise just gently remind the players every now and then that running around with those very useful kits is a bad idea.
Gently. Don't ever be a **** about it.

Players might be hardcoded, but that sure doesn't seem to stop anybody from trying.
