Blue screen of death

Post by Tomato-Rifle »

I have not played BF2 in a about 2 weeks, because every time i go to multiplayer and join a server, at around 90% my computer gets the blue screen of death. I can go into single player and and create a local and i don't get the Blue screen of death.

This is a issue with vBf2, and any mod.

Things you can try before you uninstall/reinstall.
Backup your BF2 folder that's inside your documents folder. Once you have a backup delete the original from your documents folder.
Try starting PR from your PR shortcut
a new default folder is created
link to your online account.
If all goes well (CTD gone) all you have to do to get your custom settings back is copy your 'control' file from your backup to the new profile folder.
path:
C:\Users\your user name here\Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\0002
note: you may not have a 0002 folder so use 0001
(choose the highest # folder, It is usually your currant profile folder)

BSOD = ram issue

Download this small program and install it: After that you can get a validation URL like this one: CPU-Z Validator 3.1 or just save the report/specification in a txt-file. That'll give us all the information we need.

before you say its a RAM issue....

What is the error message it throws out at you Tomato?

usually says something on the top left of the error just before it dumps.

Tomato,
Download the guide for your O/S here:
The TweakGuides Tweaking Companion
Check out the chapter on Ram and the one on overclocking
for a better understanding of what you can do
BEFORE you make any changes.
The guide is very well written and easy to understand.
