This has more to deal with the pilot kit than crewman, but here it is. The pilot's gun was removed for the paratrooping reasons, right? Currently, if a helicopter crash lands, but survives and doesn't have a crate, a pilot is completely screwed because he's unarmed. I'm suggesting that the crewman kit be suggestable from the helicopter in order to give a pilot the ability to get a gun without a crate, similiar to real life in that if a pilot's helicopter goes down, and he survives, he can always get out and grab his gun and defend himself.
THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH GIVING THE PILOT HIS GUN BACK.

Re: Crewman Suggestion
Of course, I'm assuming that the helicopter, while critical, still wasn't damaged enough to explode. If it was anyways, a pilot would just leave his gun normally and run like hell. But in the case that it just got shot up with some LMG fire and barely hit critical while flying at 20m, the pilot now has a fighting chance, literally.

I fully support thisThey could even just enable crewman kit requesting off helicopters.

Re: Crewman Suggestion
This is simliar, but this way there's no need to create a new kit. Also, the carbines used by the crewman typically will also be carried by pilots as well, unless it's just a pistol they carry.
