graphics problems,

Post by varasku »

Hi there, recently i installed project reality, i have had it installed in the past and it worked fine, but when i try to play it now after having the game on for around 30 minutes i get very wierd and anoying graphical problems, if it helps, il also get the same problems in forgotten hope 2, i tried turning the aa off to see if that helps but i still got the problem, and like i said, ive ran the game perfectly before so i dont think its hardware issue, i can play v battlefield 2, on all high settings, 4x aa, and the highest res option, heres my specs,

geforce 7600 gs 256mb video memory
intel pentium D CPU 2.8GHz (2CPUs)
4gb 800mhz ram (system only detects 3gb tho? any ideas?)

normal battlefield 2 runs at around 35-45 fps, sometimes higher, depending on whats happening in game.

thanks.

That is an odd problem, my computer has 4gb of RAM too, but i only detects 3.5 and that's only because thats its maximum number. Probably the same on your computer, but other than that I can't answer your problem. :(

It sounds like your card could be overheating use something like rivatuner to see what the temperature is when it starts happening. Also after you exit the game does your whole computer run slow/look funny?

well when it happens i exit the game and the computer slows down for a couple seconds and then is fine, but outside of the game, the computer runs fine, and normal bf2, doesnt get these problems, ive got 2142, hl2 which dont get any problem either, it just seems to be pr and fh2, but i dont think its battlefield mods because i played on battlefield sandbox and didnt get anything like this, does pr and fh2 render the game differently from the original or change anything, because fh2 and pr both look like they have better graphics than normal bf2??

EDIT: i also play on gta san andreas and get very similar problems now and again, and if im in the area where the the problem is happening for too long the game crashes, just to let ya know :P

Turn down video settings a little bit till you find your cards 'sweet spot'
PR set the 'bar' way higher than vbf2.
Huge maps etc.
You have a older cpu and only 256 vram on card
so you have a bottle neck most likely at the cpu.
Set textures to medium and lower some of your light map settings should do the trick.
Read the :
Battlefield 2 Tweak Guide
It is an invaluable resource for helping users get the most out of what then have.
PS read the 'system' guides as well
Good luck
