PR install exe not being recognised on vista

Post by JacktheStripper »

Hi there,

im trying to install project reality on my friends PC and hes got vista,

currently im taking my downloaded PR files (core and levels) around to his house on a penstick and copying them onto his cpu and trying to run them from there

but this is where the problem is, every time i double click the core.exe nothing happens, task manager doesn't even register it as a loading process, but it does sometimes completely crash and freeze the computer

the computer is dual core, has a good gfx card and plenty of ram so its not the cpu spec, im wondering if there is a C++ for vista or something which may be the problem?

any ideas will be appreciated,

cheers

Run installer as Admin(Vista)
Check out these from Re: Setup taking ages!?:

It is important to only start the installer ONCE. The files are compressed and as you know the archive is over a gig! It took me (AMD 4800x2+ 2 gigs ram) a little over 10 min. to see the install window open for Core and a little over 5 for levels. If you are taking longer than that try rebooting and just open the installer after you reboot and the system is fully loaded.(+4 min?)
If it still doesn't work try a new download.
Your org. maybe corrupted.
Good luck
To improve installer speed:
Install InstallShield 10.5: http://support.installshield.com/kb/fil ... te1050.exe

Install InstallShield 11: http://support.installshield.com/kb/fil ... te1100.exe

(From Q108322: Update to the Latest InstallShield Installation Engines.)

Update the Windows Installer...Download details: Windows Installer 4.5

If it still won't work, go run disk cleanup and check "Temporary Files."
