Crash landing chopper - damage to occupants on exit

Currently when a transport or other chopper is damaged to the point that they are forced to land, but do not explode, the occupants are able to hop out and get to business immediately.

To more accurately represent the effects of crashing into the ground and the following disorientation it would be great to damage the occupants. As I am not aware of that being possible (although medics can heal in a vehicle) and I don't want them to take damage just because the vehicle is damaged an 'on fire' damage for exiting soldiers would work well.

For example, if you are in an APC and it takes enough damage to catch fire the occupants are burned when they hop out of the vehicle (but not before). In the case of the chopper the flames would not need to be visibly present but when the chopper lands a similar damage effect to those exiting the vehicle would give them the bleed effects and require a little healing to get them ready for battle again to represent the shock from crash landing.

This could be an effect triggered along with one of the disabling effects (like engine failure) so it does not go off until the chopper is forced to land.

Also see Ghost741's thread with a completely different damage to crash occupants idea: https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f18-pr ... tions.html

How often does this really happen? I think it's a lot more important to deal with the fact that helicopters explode rather than get shot down.

The main reason for this is because people tend to keep shooting the chopper even after its disabled

Must depend on the map, I've only been forced down on Archer since thy made the change, never destroyed in the air. I've never been destroyed in the air while flying on Barracuda or Jabal, always surviving a crash landing.

I can only kill transport choppers in the air reliably on Muttrah (with the BTR cannon) or with a tank/TOW shot on maps with those vehicles. Choppers already start having failures that can force a landing at 25 or 30% of their max health if I remember correctly.

Maybe the same kind of damage as a molotov?

I've seen something of the sorts in that Zombie-mod for BF2, but Im sure the topic raises issues of morality. Also, considering other changes I think it could wait; for example, it would make more sense perfecting the vehicle-disabled feature for vehicles like helicopters, as a successful recovery is rather hard to emulate.

I'd be supprised to find that players are not harmed in the current version of PR, upon escaping a crash landing. As it is in PR, if a vehicle sets on fire(Critically damaged) it will reduce your health dramatically upon leaving the vehicle. I suspect this is the case for choppers in PR currently, but I can see how it would be possible for the chopper to be disabled without being on fire, leaving the passengers unscathed.

Exiting vehicles in critical damage does hurt you to the point you start bleeding.

But we removed that from air vehicles, so you can survive a parachute exit.
