RPG-7 optics.

Post by boilerrat »

How plentiful are the RPG-7 optics in the middle east area, and how availble are they?

I think we should get some set of optics so we could improve our aiming capabilities as insurgents / taliban

Discuss.

I know this guy isn't insurgent / taliban, but its just another picture of the sights.

The optics on the RPG7's where removed in 0.7 or something like that so doubt they are coming back.

Iirc that was because they were part of a crappy EA model.. Anyway, i hope a scope will be added to at least Russian and perhaps Militia RPG-7's someday :)

On the show "Deadliest Warrior: Taliban VS IRA" The taliban represenative used an RPG-7 with optics.

I'm not sure of his credibility, could someone check? Maybe he trained with the Taliban long ago or was a spy.

I thought the optics were never removed, just the old 'nilla model that was replaced by the current RPG that had only ironsights

I guess we could add the Optics back to the RPG-7 for the Taliban but ONLY if they're HAT is the same of the Russian and Chechen HAT, a RPG-7, with a single Tandem warhead. But definately for the Russian and Chechen HAT, definate supporter.

I agree with Drunken, Russian and Chechen HAT kits should both definitely get optics, and I think the taliban could probably use them too.

I was just thinking of this. It really is a shame that the Russian forces don't have any optics for their HAT. Seriously. They get way outclassed in AT capabilities by all the other modern military forces because of a lack of optics for the RPG-7.

Russia Ironsights

wtf?

tbh I don't think the RPG will gain much from a scope, it isn't homing so surely using a scope will just make it harder to pinpoint you're target, might as well use the ironsight ingame since its useful at the more standard RPG engagement distances ingame

and as much as I love it when people compare the teams like that I suspect the real reason that a scope RPG hasn't already been implemented is the simple reason that the Russian forces had bigger fish to fry when they already had the lovely and talented RPG model from previous versions.

Mabye you aren't understanding my point. I am only pursuing the optics for the Russians HAT kit.

First, the RPG-7 HAT kit would be more useful at longer distances with a scope. Maps like Yamalia, Silent Eagle, Beirut and maybe Iron Ridge would benefit from having a scope to engage armor at farther distances.

Image
How does a sight like this make it harder to aim at longer distances? It gives increments/lines/whatever that would be helpful when predicting drop at longer ranges and there is no pesky sight post to obscure the picture.

My idea here is to give the Russians a longer reach with their HAT kit than it has currently. Something that would put it more on par with the other factions

The LAT version of the RPG-7 is fine with iron sights IMO. Many factions don't have optics on their LAT weapons, because they are more often used in shorter distance engagements where drop is not much of an issue.

Moreover, this is not a OMG Russian DEVs why did you waste your time on other stuff and not put optics on the RPG-7. Is it impossible to add an optic sight (once one is made) as a child object to the RPG-7 model? I am just wondering if we can expect this to be coming down the pipe and if not, why?

Also: Conspiracy? No conspiracy was implied.

AFAIK R-Con Danke made a working scope (texture+model) for RPG and he exported it, then he posted a pic on these forums. It'll probably be implemented in the next version if DEVs consider it to be realistic.

It should be featured in the Russian faction, but the insurgents definetly shouldn't have it. Nearly every video you see of islamic extremsits are them carrying iron sighted rpg's.
