To much, im starting to get sick of it. I love SLing and every 1/10 time i would get a good squad that would listen. Usually im forced to kick my squad members for either doing something stupid, grabbing a kit i told them not to, or going off by them selves.


It seems like i need to play with a group of personal friends or be in an active clan that is smart. Even people who don't play with mics sometimes communicate more then those with mics.

Anyone else having this problem?

Do you give them once chance before kicking? I find that if I give a quick explanation of why I don't want a kit ("We are assaulting so I don't need a sniper who isn't in the cap radius when the SAW will be covering") or one warning for running off.

There will of course always be people who don't pay attention but I have run into a lot fewer of those than I have of good teamwork oriented players.

I can never really get sick of PR's Teamwork because it's the only game that has any teamwork at all.
I am not saying the OP cannot express his feelings about his experiences, all I'm saying is that it takes patience and however little teamwork you see on pubs is always gonna be more than any other FPS I know of, so let's not freak out about it.

Most of the time I am playing I am constantly reminded by my SL and others to keep it together as a squad, and I feel like if there is no teamwork then I joined the wrong server at the wrong hour.

and why do people constantly make new threads about how noobs/idiots are wrecking the game and don't listen.

I've not played PR for a while now due to technical difficulties but will be back on this week so things might get worse.

The last game i played was quite some time ago but there were noobs a plenty as Jigsaw, Brummy, Colonelfool and I were in the same squad. Along with some of these chaps, Scot (biggest PR noob ever) is in the same clan as me and there's a fair few of us that have played regularly together. Believe me, being in a clan doesn't guarantee organised team-play.

I joke but threads like this pop up all the time. Players are hardcoded, Scot is a noob. This is a game, kids play games. Scot is a kid and he likes games, we're all doomed.

Watch out this week though, i r teh back.

It's good to have a few "dummies" in your squad, then you can raise them up to your level of playing, or make them better than before they played.

Germanspeaking Sqadmembers with VOIP do their Duty perfekt.
But with people who speak no german and sometimes no english (i can only speak those 2 languages) i have much more problems.

I thing the really problem is most time the language
and very rarely the " I don't care." mentality.

With people i can talk with, the baddest thing could be that we must wait another 2 minutes for the right Kit
But believe me , when they understand that i dont say, "ok stay with the sniper kit" they learn and next time they have the right Kit. because they know that we would wait again 2 minutes if they dont obey.

10 times i have had a troll sqad where everybody done his own thing.
15 Times i have had a working sqad where i have had to told them nearly every handgrip.
25 times i have had a Working Squad with men who done their duty independently.

I love a stirn SL.

My firs map on PR was Ehjiod Desert(No idea how it's spelled) I got into a squad who where going to sneak through the enemy frontline within the city. He told us to not shoot unless we where shot upon. He was very clear about this.

So this one guy shot into the air and the SL just screams like crazy "WHAT THE F**K DID I JUST TELL YOU?". The guy who shot just laughs and tells the SL to calm down. The SL goes on screaming (without caps this time ) "I was in the Falkland War, I lead men in real battle. You better listen to me or get out!". And so the guy shoots another shot into the air, just to annoy the SL. He gets kicked and we get a lecure on how to listen to your SL.

After that we crossed a .50 cal covered street using smokes and ambushed an APC with our HAT. But then I unfortunately got connection problems and whs disconnected.
That 15 min round made me keep playing PR, it was what convinced me this is great fun to play.

Though this might have little to do with what the thread was about. I got carried away.
Point is, some people are a-holes, but I personally think most people are not, and with a good SL who knows how to lead a squad you'll have more fun than in any other game, and eventually the idiots will get bored and leave. (Once the guy was kicked he left within 2 min as all other squads where full).

I agree with you, to some degree. In comparison with many other games out there, this is not much of a problem.

I a squad falls apart into ramboing and utter chaos I think the SL can be blamed at most times. He needs to make it clear to everyone what he wants with his squad. Explain the plans that are going through his head so that the squadmembers know what they are supposed to do and so on.

If a squads falls apart, judging from own experience, the leadership is more often the reason than idiocy among the squadmembers.

Playing as a SL on public servers it really is unfortunate to be forced to use the kick-function many times to adjust your squad to the requirements you demand but that's most efficient way how you can guarantee that your squadmembers are behaving like you wish.
It really helps to regulary play on a specific server, so regulars will recognice your demands and will be attuned to your style of play even bevor they join your squad, just because they know what you ask of them.

i believe EA posted an ad about project reality being 10X more ownage than bf2 so they are all downloading and playing,,, i remember this happeneing a few months back when ea posted an ad or article about it in PC gamer,, i have noticed it too and yes it is annoying but in a month or so all the noobs will be flushed out and many more dedicated pr fans will be playing when .9 comes out,, shitty for now but beneficial in the long run

Ahh, Rebiv my own clan leader.

The issue and removing it would result in much of the PR community gone, probably 30% left. Rebiv and I don't prefer coming on the server to find 3 squads of people waiting on the carrier for the Cobra, and only one squad thats at least a grid from main. But they had a HAT, a Sniper, and a Crewman. And the nearest person from eachother in that squad was 3 Grids away. Its painful to see such a game that strives and works around teamwork, but half the players **** around with the new assets it brings them. If there was something that could swat away the useless, unwilling players from PR, I'd be all for it. But until then, the only way I'm seeing teamwork is through laying down my wonderful Ban hammer.

If I may, Rebiv, might just be our game's RaptorJesus, I swear. He will win a game if its on his hands anyway possible. He will yell at us, spank us, threaten us, but in the end we end up being satisfied winning a game all because of our squad being twenty times more effective than the 5 others doing "Base defense" in APCs and tanks.

I am one person who plays this game....Without a micro phone...
But I am always ensuring that I are useful to my squadmates...
For example...
If there is no Medic in my squad...
I grab that kit...
If there is no Rifleman (for ammo)
I grab that kit too..

But sometimes...

You Squad leaders dont give a fuck and still Kick us from your squads...
(Do not feel offended.... I was NOT referring to you.)

There are some of us who REALLY want to help and make this "experience" better for everyone...

Maybe you are the squadleader that I hate. I hate the squadleaders who have it clear in their mind how every squadmembers step should be taken and if something not going as planed he looses his temper.

My suggestion is that you are probably playing on wrongs servers. Tactics and Temwork, UK Warfare, Eagle, ABC and more are servers with experienced players.

I really disagree with the sentiment expressed by the OP. The idiot:awesome ratio in PR is so much of an improvement over every single other game that it is impossible to complain. Sure it could sometimes be better, this is the internet and there are some particularly foolish residents here, but try playing any other game with random people in a squad on a hostile battlefield and see where it gets you. Not even in full retail games like ArmA 2 and OFP.

Additionally in my opinion there is no such thing as a bad squad member, only a bad squad leader. If a player is griefing or takes a kit that you have specifically said not to select say goodbye and move on. Someone else will join your squad who could well be an improvement. We all have bad experiences, but you must not allow it to affect you.
Be stern, but be prepared to laugh with your squad along the way. Do not be afraid to tell them what to do, but remember that the best squad members use their own initiative as well as yours. Be the leader of the line, the best man in the squad and you will earn their respect.

I was "nice" to let a guy that grabbed a sniper kit (in Kozelsk) to take a SAW and come with us (well, he rejoined, I kicked again, and he rejoined "HEY I`M TRYING TO CHANGE KITS!"). After that he found a way up the hills not in E1/F1 or the rocks with the stairs, but on a not-so-steep slope which most people aren`t aware of...

I say, give him a chance. He screws that up? (I'm talking about disobbeying the rule of not getting a limited kit without asking and of similiar gravity). Give one more chance. Again? Kicked. He rejoins, it means he wants to be there. Ask him what is he gonna do. He does the same thing, kick him. depending on the gravity, suggest a kick because of him being an "asshat" because he got a HAT kit on insurgency. Or a sniper kit in Fallujah or Kozelsk. And will die. And the enemy will take it. And you know that.
