Hey lads,
When I am starting my BF2 PR, the screen stays black for about 2 minutes. Meanwhile my connection is crashing (disconnect from Vent/TS/ICQ). Then it goes to the login stuff and that works fine until I am loged in. Then the middle screen (where this videos are) is black and I cant do anything. This crashes connection again and lasts about 2 mins.
Then when I am clicking Deployment -> Internet Server -> Update the game hangs again and the connection crashes. I dont receive any servers.
This problem occured somewhen last week. I didnt change anything on my PC, no new drivers, no new hardware, no new program installed. It just was there.... Anyone heard of this issue or knows how to fix it?
PS: I deinstalled my firewall to make sure its not blocking anything... No changes.

Try running battlefield cleaner to flush out your video cache files and disable intro movies.
Still no joy?
Trash your BF2 cache files
Path:
C:\Users\'your user name here'\Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache
Throw EVERYTHING inside the folder named cache away.
don't worry the files will be replaced with new ones when the game restarts.
Some other things you can try before you uninstall/reinstall.
Backup your BF2 folder that's inside your documents folder. Once you have a backup delete the original from your documents folder.
Try starting PR from your PR shortcut
a new default folder is created
link to your online account.
If all goes well (CTD gone) all you have to do to get your custom settings back is copy your 'control' file from your backup to the new profile folder.
path:
C:\Users\your user name here\Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\0002
note: you may not have a 0002 folder so use 0001 or the highest #

Thanks. Sorry for that late answer, but just to let you know, it worked until today...
It has definately something to do with the .con files in the Profiles folder. When I delete all of them and start PR, it starts normally within 1 second. When I edit everything back to the old though (so I restore my old settings ingame using the menu, not copy pasting from the backup) it doesnt work and it crashes the internet and starts up the game after 5min of watching a black screen...
Somehow its really strange... Every other game works fine though.
