Help with sniping?

Post by D123T »

I just got PR, but Ive played BF2 for along time and had my fair share at sniping, but its seem a little different, i suppose it should, in PR.

Is any one good at it who can give me some tips?

Well, first of all, its all about your vantage point. Always make sure you get in unseen and get out unseen. The minute you be engaged by any enemy, at any range, you get out of there, take cover, call for evac, whatever. Then theres the sniping. Its nothing like BF2, Settle time is much higher, now you'll have to be trained on your target for about 7 seconds with little to no movement (Actual A,W,S,D movements reset the whole deviation process) until you can ensure a good chance of making a shot. Always check the range of your shots, at about 700 meters for a normal caliber sniper rifle is where bullet drop starts to occur. But there, damage decreases and it is not suggested that you engage a target at that range. See a APC, a group of inf, Firebase, or AA? Take out your GTLD and start working with your heavy assets (Attack Helicopters, APCs, Tanks) if they are available.

Have a spotter with you, as they can help you spot targets and they can take out enemy infantry within range of you if necessary.

[R-DEV]DuneHunter - No offense to any female gamers, but never, ever underestimate the amount of havoc a woman can unleash upon innocent unsuspecting electronics.

Yes Drunkenup and Atlantis basically summed it up for you.

Some important tips:

Watch your back, especially on insurgency maps, the hajis are a very sneaky rat like species of vermin. They lurk in the shadows, as you should be doing. Never go into a city on Insurgency, use your head. You don't want that kit to be taken, it's likely the towelhead will have it for the duration of the map.

You are best to take shots while prone, and as said before, not using W, S, A, D keys. You can follow the target while zoomed in, but do it very slowly, as to not disturb the "imaginary crosshair." Yes, you'll soon figure out the unique and not even REMOTELY realistic targeting system in PR, especially for a trained soldier. Hell, all I do is hunt and go to the range and I have better control over my rifles then these jokers. But I digress...

Before you take your shot, know your surroundings, priority targets are those that know where you are, will soon know where you are, and dangers to heavy assets (AA, HAT teams, etc.).

You'll also want to call in targets for Close Air Support whenever it is up.

Snipers are mostly frowned upon by your own team in PR, still haven't figured out why cause if your doing the job right you are causing the other team havoc and scaring the piss out of them. Just dont take a humvee for yourself and drive off to some remote area, be sensible, ask for a ride, usually some1 will be glad to help. When I fly trans, i'm more than happy to help out sniper teams.

You can always do some single player to practice, have fun and GOOD LUCK!

In addition to Irons post, here is this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RqkHbDJTc1g
That is for a guideline for beyond 600m shots. To visually see whats being told to u is the best training. After that you go and practice on training servers.

By the end of it, youl be able to snipe like this, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NRdsjvWDNZE

All three vids are by me, so if u have any further questions, just PM me or something.

PS: dont comment on base rape on the last vid, nobody cares. Its just a visual representation of something he will be able to do in the field.

What does the breathing do? (when you hold down 3). Does that speed up the deviation, or is it just an audio cue that lets you know when to go boom?
