Just a question.
Why is it that the Developers decided to use plain looking M16 and M4 rifles instead of the rifles we see all over News and even screen shots of rifles with Laser pointers, flash lights, or whatever they deck out on them. Oh but I do love grips.
I wouldn't ask for functionality of the items, but just aesthetics for the eye.
But why is it the Developers chose a rather plain and bland look for the rifles?
I searched, by the way.

Re: M4 and M16 Aesthetics
It's to save on lag and what not. The BF2 engine handles X amount of polys/tris (think of those as amount of memory, just for now). The M16 is on the higher end of the scale at about 6000 Tri. Adding foregrips/MARs sights/different magazines/butt stocks/etc would make even more tris which the BF2 engine cannot handle.
They would love to improve but alas...it is far from their reach.
That is, until we take over EA and get ourselves the BF2 source code.

Spaz: I once had a dream where my psychology teacher was 10ft tall and ate me, then she gave birth to me.

All the "leet" kit stuff is kinda optional IRL anyway. Varies from unit to unit and soldier to soldier depending on standard operating procedures.
It would be nice to have the source code and get at that stuff though. You should go ask EA for a christmas present.

On that note, rough equivalents for the other conventional factions would need to be investigated.
