Cap zone size of Forts/buildings
So. I Was thinking today that I must make a post about this.
On Fools road and on Muttra. There are flags on the forts. This is great until you are in your own fort guarding and low and behold the flag goes grey. But nobody has got pass your squad. You perimeter is still good. But now you have no hope of reinforcements . The OP4 team has capped the flag from outside. This now means that the defenders have to leave there defence possession to go and find and hope to kill the outside cappers. This really defeats to whole idea of a fort to me. The idea of the fort is a strong hold. Or so I think. I Could be wrong. I Think that if the forts are there, make them work as intended.
Oh and a side note. Remove the ticket Bleed from MEC if they lose south city. I Want to see fights for the fort. It's great fun.

Bout Muttrah: I really hope that the flags will be reworked somehow. Right now Ive had the fort-flag about just only twice to cap/defend.
And South-City was about nearly as rare. I know the noth-city inside-out but I think Ive never set a foot into south-city apart from passing through with a truck or APC.

the Muttrah Fort flag is only inside the fort walls (unless someone has changed it without me knowing), there is more ways into the fort than just the main entrance you know so there where probably people inside, you just didn't know about it

GSA (or w/e it's called now) had a full cap on Muttrah last night. I think two people were flown into the fort via Huey to get the leet cap off.

Somebody changed it. You can cap from the car park and on the steps going into the fort. And yes. I do know how to get inside the Muttra fort with a rope
The point is. You don't need to go into the fort to cap the flag. That is what I wish to see changed.

Re: Cap zone size of Forts/buildings
ye rgr, fuzzhead likes to have large flag radius's what ever the flag being it an objective or an area control flag so he most likley did the change when I wasn't looking
I personally agree with you that "objective" based flags like the muttrah fort should have the flag radius only inside of it forcing the combat to go inside of the objective in order to control the objective and then have area control flags being large in order to flush the enemy totally out of the area to gain control of it.
Wont bother changing the Muttrah fort flag for v0.9 but will when I do the Muttrah 2.5 update. For other maps you will need to some how convince fuzz that large flag radius's are not always the best thing for every flag

Is there an official thread for that. I really would like to discuss that. Increased flag radius is one of the best changes since BF2 imo but not always.[R-DEV]Rhino wrote:For other maps you will need to some how convince fuzz that large flag radius's are not always the best thing for every flag![]()

Oh no! Teams are balanced so the defending teams back flags are rarely capped?RedWater wrote:Bout Muttrah: I really hope that the flags will be reworked somehow. Right now Ive had the fort-flag about just only twice to cap/defend.

The simple fact for this is because US teams on Muttrah always suck - too many Heli squads - it's not to do with the flag layout.
Anywho OT-
Yeah I agree with Rhino about Objective Flags being just on the objective - but I love other large cap radius's as it means it's more realistic as you have to either defend one place which can see the rest of the flag zone, or patrol around the flag zone to make sure they don't get in.

Re: Cap zone size of Forts/buildings
something like the muttrah fort is ok since its big, a cap radius works well within it
but anything smaller and a large encompassing cap radius is better imo

Re: Cap zone size of Forts/buildings
ye, too small a cap radius and it just comes far too predictable on whats going to happen, where the enemy are going to be when they are trying to cap it etc but I'm not talking that small, not many flags in PR are now "objective based"

Project Medieval
The Siege has Commenced. An army of 20 000 men are standing in formation on the grassy plain infront of the castle. A grassy plain filled with death and bones, surrounding the castle in every direction. 30 years and 11 532 tons of stone is what it took to build this magnificent defensive structure. Endless hours of sweat, blood and broken nails. A grey behemoth worthy a king. 3000 men stand ready inside the castle. Ready to die for thier comrades. Ready to die for their flag. Suddenly, a single horn is heard from the massive horde on the plain. Silence follows for a few seconds, then a sounds so frightening the most hardened men freeze for a moment. A sound as if hell itself gave up a roar. The sound of 20 000 men roaring from the bottoms of their lungs and empty stomaches. Empty stomaches and hungry stomaches. Hungry stomaches and hungry souls. Hungry for blood. A grey mass of soldiers, ladders and battering rams starts to move towards the castle. The earth trembles as in fear of what is to come. The archers on the walls are waiting nervously for the order to shoot. A young archer looses his nerve, lets of an arrow which falls short in the trampled grass. - Hold Fire! yells the captain. These walls will protect us! No enemy has ever sat his foot inside this blessed castle! As God is my witness we will hold these walls or we will all burn in hell tonight! The walls start to vibrate as the hoard moves closer -Fire! The captains voice booms across the walls, echoing in the courtyard. 1500 arrows creates creates a black cloud in they sky. A cloud filled with death and menace. A cloud filled with hope. The arrows descends on the grey mass, ready to devour it. Then suddenly, a message in the sky! A message written in gold as from the almighty himself!
The attackers wins the round with 255 - 0.

I just have to acknowledge the epicness of your story Lean. A nice illustration of the annoying final flag on muttrah.

lol epic story XD god is the automated messages!
yeah being able to cap a fortress from the outside wall seems to make the walls pointless.

Re: Cap zone size of Forts/buildings
I Think its fine as it is, as this does static does not represent how easy(ish) it would be to destroy the fort with modern day weapons. The fort in PR can survive ANY weapon and honestly just leads to a campfest at the end of the round instead of encouraging the MEC side to cap anything back.
