although most people seem not to notice. Tonight, I retrived 3 of the 4 RIBs on Muttrah and returned them to the Carrier because I knew eventually that we would be out of helicopters. And when that happened, everyone just sat on the flight deck and did nothing, despite there being 3 boats and 2 APC's down below. Despite my repeated attempts to alert the team that we still had transports off the carrier, they say around sunbathing.
This isnt the first time, and Its not just Muttrah. People often take boats to the objective and just leave them there, that if they even notice them at all! Its the same with Humvees and other light vehicals on most maps.
WAKE UP PEOPLE! Boats are assets and cost tickets just like anything else

The main issue with boats is that you can be shot out very easily... on Muttrah as MEC I killed a whole squad in a boat with my AR. I think if they were to feature prominently on any maps in the future (e.g the Brazilian maps) then this needs to be fixed... I'm not sure how though.

Boats are assets yes.
However, unlike the amphibious APCs they can't be used outside the water. So once they've reached the shore they're no longer useful to the squad and hence are just ditched.
A dedicated transport squad could ferry people back and forth, to ensure the boats are returned to the carrier. But unlike other assets there's very little appeal in that.

Yeah you're right
But sometimes the squad leaves it there for a quick escape if you know what I mean

Squads arent going to drive a boat all the way to the shore and get 1 guy to drive it back and anyway the boat blows up after a while so it should be back before there are shortage of choppers. (this usalluy means youre gona lose)

I love making a SEAL squad on muttrah and only use boats to get behind enemy lines

I believe its realistic that people can easily get shot out. Boats were NOT made to take bullets and serve as armored transports. Absolutely not. Boats were made as quick, stealthy means to deploy infantry behind to the front or behind enemy lines. Sure, the engine is loud, but using a boat proves to be a hell of a lot more stealthy then rolling up in a LAV or landing in a chopper. So, as long as you avoid landing RIGHT next to the objective (I think it really applies to any transport vehicle; they are meant to transport you to within walking distance, not really up to the actual objective) you will be fine.
On a separate note, people really need to stop beaching boats, especially on maps like Qwai or Cuda where its next to impossible to get them back into the water. Boats, like any vehicle, are reusable, and can prove to be invaluable when you need to quickly relocate to any section of the island.

These are not the conversions we are looking for.

I assume the units are seconds? Minutes would make it last even longer, and I doubt they're using something as obscure as 12000 deci-seconds(20 min)(Does deci-seconds even exist?).
I guess I was a bit off though, as 12000 seconds is 3 hours 20 min.

Star Wars joke.
Yeah, it's roughly 3h20m, or more accurately 3.33(repeating) hours.
(Yeah, they're using seconds. 600 seconds spawndelay value = 10 minutes, the spawn time of an RIB.)

LoL dont start this...
If my squad sometimes uses boats in Muttrah, I make sure we blow them up once we arrive. Yea, sounds a bit stupid but it's only a few tickets and guys on the carrier can have a new one spawning there soon anyway.

from barracuda
Yeah well 3 1.2 hours is long enough for the Infantry to do their job then redeploy using the Boat.
Seriously - on barracuda it's much quicker and safer to land by boat, set a rally near the boat, do a patrol to clear and area of enemies/cap a flag/ what ever you were going to do, then return to the boat (Unless some ****** has nicked it and taken it back to main) to move round the island and do something else - works especially well for taking out Fire Bases.
@ Feriluce - that's a Landing Craft from D-Day - RIBs are supposed to be stealthy
