adding the comp m4 aimpoint sight

Post by theflidgeface »

currently IRL the U.S Army are using the comp m4 aimpoint sight correct me if im wrong. so i was just wondering if the comp m4 sight was ever going to be added to the m4's of the U.S Army in PR. because currently it looks like they have the comp m2 ingame. this wouldnt change any gameplay(i think) but IMHO it would just add to realism.
EDIT-http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aimpoint_CompM4 it says there that as of 2008 it is adopted by the U.S military.

I cant seem to find any solid proof that the US military is solely using the comp M4 sight over the m68 designated comp M2 sight, besides, its a very minor cosmetic change that no one would notice nor care, as both are realistic.

This should be in suggestions forum. also when making a claim like this, its best if you back up yup your claim with reliable sources otherwise it holds no weight. also, ill just leave these here:

I'd rather have an EOtec over the Aimpoint anyways, so if someone WAS gonna make a new sight I think it would be better to do that for diversity

Aimpoint M4 last about 80,000 hours, comes with lens covers (how good is a sight when its covered in mud) how long does an eotech last again

You can still aim just as good even if the front lense is covered in mud. I've seen people use aimpoints with the lense cover shut.

most sights come with lense covers, but no one uses them because, what good are clean lenses if your cover is down when you need to shoot? in which case you would respond with, take them off before you engage, which i would then respond with, wipe your lense before you engage.

ps: under most circumstances it is while under fire that your lenses will get dirty, any other time and as a soldier your top priority is keeping your weapon out of the mud. thus lense caps are pointless. the only purpose they serve is to protect the lense from scratches while being transported in your bag etc.

battery life isnt a problem for eotechs, they are meant to be used in unison with your ironsights in which case when the batteries run out, it has no disadvantages whereas with tube style red dots like the aimpoints it's possible that the sight line is obscured

Try it out if you get the chance. Close the front cover, and you will still see the reticle on your target. :P

It is one of these things that will be very low on the priority list when it takes time to create and adds nothing new - where in the same time some new addition to the game could be created.

i love these discussions :)
i have both and battery life is important. since both sights can co-witness to use iron sights your comment about the eotech is irrelevant, of what use is a dead one pound sight on the top of your rifle?
your comment about the lens covers is a little niave, i know i drop stuff when i dont mean to, think a soldier might drop his on accident?

interesting, i will. it makes sense, not optimal since your right eye will have that lens area being blocked affect total sight picture but it should work.

Well the front one probably, and then they use it as an OEG.

According to Aimpoints website, the CompM4 is a updated version of the CompM2 of which the US Army and USMC currently use. The CompM2 as it is in-game is awfully boring, although in real life is in use Almost where ever a ACOG or plain Ironsight carry handle is. I personally would love to see the CompM4 on very little kits to represent its small use, i.e. LAT, Specialist. But anything cosmetic is at the bottom of the Dev's list, so if you want it, you'll have to make it or someone else in the community.

Shouldn't take too long, considering I've already made one. ;)

More guns and bullets make bad guys go away faster,
which in turn makes everyone in the area safer.
