Once you lock, unlimited. It will track the enemy all the way to desktop.

However when you can lock onto them is different.

Maximum lock distance:

aim-120 : 1200 meters.

aim-9 : 750 meters.


and, if I understand the .tweak file right, the aim-120 will self destruct after 20 seconds and the aim-9 after 10 seconds.
