Weird visual "wavyness?"

Post by gazzthompson »

So i recently noticed when playing PR all over the screen in horizontal lines some weird flickering "wavyness" is best way i can explain it really, cant screenshot it on video it as it doesn't show up. Just some sort of weird visual bug, shows when i alt tab as well.

using a 8800GT , driver version: 6.14.11.9107. the "wavyness" is on the actual screen rather than ingame it would seem. refresh ratio is same for game as it is for monitor (60hz).

any ideas?

Maybe over heating? Pop the case, clean card with can air, play a round with case open to see if it helps.

Good luck

no speakers, also it happens after a clean boot so i doubt a overheat problem.

If it doesn't show on screen capture it's most likely your monitor.

Check if the cable is plugged in well in both the monitor and the video card.

VSYNC can be forced on from graphic card's settings (well, at least with nvidia cards). The downside of this forcing is that the setting becomes global and effect all 3D apps on the system.

So the flickering is also happening out of game, either its new or i haven't noticed it. its constant and not very noticeable, only on dark websites mainly.

well, guess you cant do anything to it i'm afraid, this happens on LCD screens, on some its more visible, on some less

Think i have the same problem now that you bring it up. Very noticeable in PR like said, MW2 is fine.

Gonna look at the Vsync thing

Have a ATi card btw, so I guess it isn't just Nvidia. Just tossing it out there
