that's a suggestion for improving this mod and make it more realistic that i came up with a few days ago.
well, i really don't know if this was mentioned before...
what i'm talking about is a grenade with a time fuse whose detonation delay is affected by the moment you did pull out the pin (the moment you started pushing the left or right mouse button). that's all...
if you like it, just reply so.

Re: Time Fuse Grenade
Thread moved to relevent forum.
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.
Many thanks to [R-DEV]Adriaan for the sig!

Welll.... there were the SLAMS in earlier versions... but it wasnt fuse sensitive... why not just throw a granade at the enemy and then shoot him Just as the nade goes off to distract him from you pewning his face

Re: Time Fuse Grenade
When you pull the pin, you still hold the safety lever in your hand. It can't go off until thrown (or until the user decides to perform suicide-like tactics and "cook it off").

Re: Time Fuse Grenade
What the previous poster just called "suicidal" is actually something pretty much soldiers use to make sure the enemy hasn't a chance to toss back the grenade or just get into cover.

Okay, I can't comment on how often this is actually used. I remember reading it isn't used very often in the last thread about this topic, though.
Edit: Having searched and read a bit, I can't find a real answer. I take back the suicidal part, that was a bit harsh.

Re: Time Fuse Grenade
and what that previous poster said is "cook it off" which would mean keep cooking it until cooked no more. Other words hold the dame nade in you're hand until it blowsNagard wrote:What the previous poster just called "suicidal" is actually something pretty much soldiers use to make sure the enemy hasn't a chance to toss back the grenade or just get into cover.
oh yes and i agree with the suggestion.

Re: Time Fuse Grenade
I can only quote Wikipedia on the term:
"Cooking off refers to the act of removing the locking pin or otherwise priming the grenade and holding on to it momentarily , allowing it's fuze to burn down , limiting the ability of the target to escape the blast radius or throw it back. This method is greatly discouraged among armed forces as the fuze length is unpredictable, posing a significant threat to the user and any nearby, friendly personnel."
Cooking off does not seem to mean actually waiting for it to blow up. The second part of the quote, about it being discouraged - I don't know for sure. But we have people here who probably do.
Anyway, it's probably hardcoded to have both, unless we add a new slot.

Re: Time Fuse Grenade
The pin doesn't effect the fuse on the grenade, the fuse is only trip when the spoon (handle thing) comes off. That releases the striker and in US grenades starts a chemical fuse that then detonates in 3-4 seconds. Some nations have grenades were the spoon activates a traditional burning fuse which varies from 3-6 seconds before it hits the main charge.
I can't see this going anywere else so I'm locking.
