Landing with the Huey
I've been practicing for a few weeks now and I've gotten pretty decent. I'm having lots of trouble with landing though.
Before I go in for my landing approach I'll designate a place I want to land, though almost every time I'll go right over it or crash into a tree or something like that. If I set my throttle to 0 and try to come in I have almost no speed and my tail starts to go down.
And is it possible to land on uneven terrain without spazzing out on takeoff and crashing into a tree?

On uneven terrain, it's best to just hover a little off the ground than land plop on it.

It's weird how some people are having such hard time learning to fly
What are you using to fly? I have found the keyboard&mouse the best and easiest way to fly helicopters in PR

Yes, Mouse and Keyboard is the way to go.
Its so easy, and if you land don't turn your throttle to 0, because you will go down sideways, just ''tap'' S so you will come down straight, also land chopper like a plane.

why land it like a plane, that'd cause extreme noobness and encourge the sue of planes as transport.... wait a minute thats a good idea!
parachute down onto a crate pick up a crewman or something and your on your way!

I use the arrow keys to fly. I'll give the trapping my throttle key a go too, thanks for the advice.

Well theres you're problem!Firepower01 wrote:I use the arrow keys to fly.
Flying whit the arrow keys is just way too hard for me to even consider
just use the mouse, its simply the best way to fly 'em

Seriously, go about 200 ft up, tilt the heli on its side and immediately press and hold the down arrow

Hueys are the best for begginers easy to take off and you can really slam them to the ground when landing.

Well then i must be bloody good because flying with keys is easy and actually more accurate and you can keep a turn while using other keys.rampo93(FIN) wrote:Well theres you're problem!

Widescreen fixer v1.60 helps but wait til i get TrackIR.
For the person in question when pulling in to land drop the throttle but keep it touching 5-10% to allow you to move otherwise your pitch will do nothing. Land on your back of the skirts but if you need to adjust just do it with taps of the throttle with pitch and roll adjustments.
And Hueys are just good for learners they are the best ingame. Good armour with good speed where other lack some in either side or have bad dynamics. They also carry a full squad and some. Id personally get rid of the extra 2 seats and put more flares or ammo boxes.

I'm pure keyboard.
If you wanna learn to land, try going on top of a mountain and hovering as low as possible.
Don't try and radically save your huey. you always die. never land near trees. Know your bounderies.

What you want to do, is to gain some speed, lift your nose up and release the throttle and stall your way to the ground, at the last second lower the nose down and woala! You've got yourself a perfect landing.

How come when I have my joystick setup for the throttle, I need about 20% depending on the helicopter too hover, but if I don't have my joystick setup for the throttle, but only use W/S, it hovers at 0%?

The huey is quite different from other choppers, in my experience that is, my recommendation on landing is basically slide to your desired docking point.Firepower01 wrote:I've been practicing for a few weeks now and I've gotten pretty decent. I'm having lots of trouble with landing though.

the best way to larn how to learn is... pretend u are a jet and go slowly and land do that alot of times wen u gest used to it just hover and land but slowly just press S a couple of times don´t hold it.... wen is uneven terrain don´t risk the helli just tell the crew to bail out and yes make sure ur low altitude so they don´t die

The best way to land a helo, or in fact do anything with a helo! Is learn how to
produce a stable hover. Once you have mastered that everything else is just an extension of it.
Find your hover - move forward - Hover - Move backards - hover - climb - hover - descend.
