At what stage do you think PR is in?
With the New upcoming Release of V0.9 and all that comes with it. do you believe that Project reality is Going to Continue gaining support from new members and continue as strong as it has been for the next few years? with all of the new community mod forces and improving skills from the devs. or do you think that it will start to slow down and become more mellow causing people to move on to other games?
What is your prediction?
Me personally i think that PR is going to be running as strong as it ever had before. with my self entering on version 0.6 or So i have seen a whole bunch of awsome changes and improvments that caused PR to just explode to #1 mod.. there are players which remember the very first releases of PR i cant even imagion what you guys feel and think. lol its nothing short of amazing that PR a BF2 Improvment is still running as strong as when it first started.

Re: At what stage do you think PR is in?
I know many people believe that PR is "coming to its end on the BF2 engine" but from my point of view, there is still much to be done and many areas that simply haven't been really touched yet so IMO many players will be playing PR for many years to come since there is nothing really out there or in the works to truly compete with what PR offers and providing we keep on developing PR, I see no reason why our community shouldn't keep on growing.

I've seen PR grow since the very first release. Finding out about PR in the state of 0.9 would've blown me away. I think it'll get a huge boost when 9 is out and then a big ongoing curve upwards.

I think PR will keep growing until a revolutionary game that can provide the same quality of gameplay arrives
this game will probably be called PR2

I think its in stage: Holy ****. this is cool...we still have more stages to come!
Honestly I'm grateful for each release we make it to...in a market based view there is really no reason for PR to be as strong as it is.. with its age and general lower level of tech it should be "done like dinner" but its not..
So it think it speaks volumes about the possible replacements for PR in the PC game market. I havent found anything even close yet.. and I'm looking!! I'd love nothing more than to cast my bf2 CD into the dust bin..

As time goes by and especially when Battlefield 3 comes out I'm sure numbers will take a knock, but then hopefully PR will move on to that anyway
The game is ancient now but very impressive with the innovation brought to it by PR. No other BF2 mod has managed to capture such a large player base. I reckon PR on this platform still has another good couple of years in it before its too dated.

BF3 will most likley have little to no long term effects on PR's population, unless either the game itself is realistic (no chance of that) or that a realism mod that outshines PR is made for it (unlikely due to EA's lack of mod support).

Well, if you compair PR .9 to BF2, they are almost 2 completely different games. Just for fun the other day, i tried to list all the models PR shares with BF2. Not including building statics, I got to about 8. As for the engine, i hate to use Source as an example, but look how many games its been used for and how its been constantly updated for new releases. Refracter 2(yeah, thats it's name) could have the same potential. In todays market where everything has to look better then the competition with HD graphics and so on, Project Reality looks way better then BF2. And as for the community, it grows with every release. I've played since .75 and even in that short amount of time, ive seen some major changes. I Think if the Dev's go to .95, and then finally 1.0, Project Reality will essentually be its own game.
I think it's in the stage: Almost there

You can't really compare it to the Source engine games, as a lot of BF2 is hardcoded so impossible to add many features such as fastropes for example. As much as you edit it, it will always be BF2 (if only on steroids).

I agree but i think once more games come out that are like PR(Flashpoint and etc)
it will slowly die off

At the end of the day, as long as 61 other players are still interested in playing at the same time as you are, what does it matter? You can't be on two servers at once. I remember when there were only two or three regularly populated servers and things weren't any less fun because of this.

That's exactly right and a great way to think about it. In the US at night now it's been anywhere from 1 to 6 full servers, but after the release it will be back up to 12 to 15 and after a while it will be back down to a few at a time again. I remember playing when you would log on a see only 5 or 6 populated servers... it was still fun.IAJTHOMAS wrote:At the end of the day, as long as 61 other players are still interested in playing at the same time as you are, what does it matter? I'd estimate theres some 700 on right now. And this is USA prime time. Counting Euros, I'd say maybe 1,500?ma21212 wrote:Kinda offtopic but does anyone know how many ppl play PR? is there anyway to tell? I mean is it more than 40K ppl? cuz we have some 39,962 members on the site so...

Re: At what stage do you think PR is in?
As far as player count goes, at the highest times of server population the number of players is about 1000 I believe, so we're talking like 2k player perhaps? Hard to say really, would be interesting to get a more accurate count (i.e. anything better than a wild guess) by counting individuals who join servers over a weeks time. I have no idea if that is even vaguely possible, just spitballing.
Personally, I see a lot of things for PR to explore, and I think that until something better comes along, a lot of people will still be playing this mod.

As bf2 dies more people turn to bf2 mods like PR; IMO it is going to get stronger as bf2 gets weaker.
